Widok Delft od strony morza... Z górą czterysta lat po Vermeerze sylwetka miasta niewiele się zmieniła.
The medieval city of Delft is known for being the home of one of the greatest painters of the world (and, to tell the truth, my absolute favorite one), Jan Vermeer van Delft. The picture was taken from the point (more or less), where Vermeer'd painted his 'A View of Delft'. It was very late, almost sunset, but it made a rather nice effect after all :-) |

Hello Lilla,
I know well Vermeer's painting of the Delpht waterfront, probably not much changed since the 18th century. As a scientist/artist my favorite scientist/artist will always be Leonardo (about whom I just finished writing second book), but my second favorite is will always be Johanes (Jan) Vermeer. Like Leonardo, Vermeer produced very few works — but as Goethe famously described, "In art, the best is good enough!" Thank you for sharing this excellent silhouette of the skyline of Delft.

Bonjour Lilla,
Magnificent back light in which we find the sharpness and the nuances of the Flemish painting.
Bravo, it's a great shot!
