Of course I hope that it was to me, he was reachng out, but probably it was to the camera, or to my glasses. But his first laughs were for me, definitely! Because we looked at each other, and smiled.
He was sitting in a big imitation wooden shoe in front of a souvenir shop. Anf after he laughed at me, I asked his mother whether I could take some pictures of him, se was pleased, so I got a couple of nice shots.
After I had downloaded them, I could only think of Manny and his beautiful sepia portrait that you can find here
So this one's for you, Manny, because you always bring me so much joy with your beautiful portraits.
Yes, I know I should not upload, my arm is not good yet, but my fingers itch all the time, and I had a good day yesterday, so here you go, I hope you like it.
Thanks, Line and Curtis, for giving me this push.
Cropped, Unsharp mask, converted to sepia, added a fram.
Title is from the Monty Python movie: 'the Life of Brian'

Perfect! Great composition and wonderful decisions all the way down the line. The child's face is a treasure. First rate work. Now, perhaps, you can rest your itchy fingers for a few days. And thanks for inviting me along on your journey with this image. This is what "friends" are for, even friends half-way around the world in cyberspace.

Hi Rinie, nice to see you back with this happy shot. Don't over do it though. Yes, I thought of Manny when I saw this one, and it's up there with his. Points later.

Hi Rinie, great to see a new photo coming in from you, and what an endearing portrait you made of the little one. An infectious smile all over his face, a fine framing, and a great look this one gets in sepia. I'm sure Manny will appreciate this fine tribute to his style, and I have to say it is just as great as his work. Very nice.
Don't do too much though and please still make sure your arm gets sufficient rest, okay?

Simbolies, of wat praat ek, Rinie. Jy kan nie weg bly van TE, seer arm of the not, en nou ryk jy uit. Dis goed, ek ken ook die gevoel. Is jou arm beter?

I was just today looking to see if I had somehow missed any of your posts and I saw this new one. Great capture, Rinie. So crisp. And you got such a great expression. Joy, happiness, excitement, curiosity. It's all there. It goes along with your photo of the two girls with the mall in this respect. In both cases you were able to spot out and capture such great expressions. The tones here and the DOF are both perfect, too. And the eyes are great. They have a sparkle. And a reflection of you in them. For the scavenger hunt, perhaps. Excellent job, Rinie!

I am honored Rinie! I am here now in the Philippines and am planing to stay away from the internet but since you asked me to comment/critique, I will.
This is a very good portrait. The sepia is a great choice. the expression is very candid and the way you place him in the frame is perfect. DOF is also perfect. I lke this pic a lot.
If there's anythig I would do to improve is to aply softness around the child's hands. Aside from that, I am truly amazed by your not so frequent attempts at rtraits when i can definitely see your heart for it.
See you in two weeks. Will be back in Bangkok then.

what has not been said?
A wonderful and beautiful portrait Rinie:)the sepia conversion is a good choice, very much more impact than a colour image :)

Leuke foto Rinie, die heldere lachende ogen. Zelf hou ik meer van kleur maar voor deze maak ik graag een uitzondering!

Hi Rinie, I just find your TE pictures and I must say that I like it very much.
This shot is very lovely and "warm". I think that sepia tones is good choice. I like your composition and expression of child´s face. Excellent portrait.

Nice photo Rinie!
Very cute baby, it would be hard to resist taking photos.
I think you did a great job capturing the moment. The fact that he's reaching out to the camera is superb!
Nice sharpness, and good contrast.
