My new site 180 new pictures since August 2012

These picture has been taken during a bike trip to Sluis in Holland, 15 km of my home on the borders of Belgium, a wonderful summer day with a lovely blue sky.
Sluis one small city that everyday more Belgian people every day, than Dutch people for shopping day, almost a day vacation.

You can see the ramparts to the eastside of the city, a wonderful stroll area and bike area with a lot birds and a lot green.

History;
The Ramparts of Sluis are a cultural-historical and natural as interesting terrain that surrounds the town of Sluis.
Already in the 14th century fortifications were built to the then important trading city to protect. The Spanish retook the city in 1587, but in 1604 the city was occupied by the troops of Prince Maurice. From this period the majority of the current reinforcements.
Although part of the ramparts was later excavated, most of them still intact, and the canals. There are remains of the Western Gate (or: Stone Bear), the South Gate and East Gate still present, the east gate underwent a thorough restoration in years 2010-2011.

Thanks for viewing.
