Photographer’s Note

Distribution: Widely distributed in Central America from Mexico to Panama.
Remarks: The subfamily Ithomiinae contains over 300 species of butterfly that are found in tropical regions of Central and South America. They are mostly small, delicate butterflies with wingspans of 2.5 to 11cms.Greta oto is a typical glasswing and despite its small size and apparent fragility can fly long distances and is considered a migratory species. Adults are long lived laying eggs over a long period of time. Most ithomoiids are forest dwellers inhabiting the gloomier parts of the understorey. In all species of ithomiids the males have hair-like scales on the front margins of the hindwings which release pheromones, which are derived from substances taken in by the adults from plants such as heliotrope. Males will ccongregate in large groups called leks. Larval foodplants belong to the genus Cestrum (Solanaceae)

So, fun, I realy did my homework, it was not easy to find this information on the world web.

This was 45 minutes driving with the car, and I can recoment this beautiful butterfly garden. It's realy great, and special for our Belgian, luxenbourgh and Dutch, and French photographers. This is the bigest butterfly garden in the region.

About the photo, words are not enough, but I like the pink and the Greta, Yes I called here Greta, it has a great dof, and it's sharp, and the looking through details of the butterfly, are great. Yes I like it, I hope you will like it too.
