This is an attempt to participate at kind of a challenge - and a "Clin d'Oeil"- discussed with TE member Dominique / dom_inik_m. Theme would be: Exploring Shapes & Colours
Also his discussions on forum & comments under pictures - he also said that you're never too old to change your point of (photographic) view - made that I took the challenge... :o)
What do you think?
Info: This has been taken tonight in the fisher harbour of our little village.
I was hesitating between the colour and B&W versions, so I'll post the B&W as a WorkShop.

Very nice framing and composition of only nets, so nice, making a picture with one object, nice work, Viviane !

I think this is a good study of shapes. The soft hanging curves of the net and the straight taut lines of the ropes are distributed beautifully across the frame with the small balls and the ripples at end of the nets adds a busier accent. A pleasure to view. I like this colour version with a refined and simple range of colours.

it´s such a beautiful image, Viviane!
i like especially the way the foldings play with the light.
a pleasure to my eyes. a fav.
(ps: i would increase the amouint of blue to the sky, but this sophisticated pale blue is so great...)

It takes a moment to appreciate this image since it is so dark. As the eyes adjust, the subtle wavy lines at the edge of the nets come into view, constrasting with the delicately colored lines of the ropes running through at different angles. As Isabel says, this is a feast for the eyes if one pauses to take it in. The small floats in rust or orange at the edge of some nets add to the composition as well. I like the colored rendering better. Fine work Viviane. I hope folks will drop in and take a closer look.

Beautiful photo Viviane! I love the way the nets hang down in soft curves. I always knew you were good with the camera, and the photos on this website proof that one more time!

Challenge acknowledged (though I never felt it was a "real" challenge, unless you consider asymptots as goals to be looked at, as models to make yourself better)... But, boy oh boy! never did I expect such a wide acceptance, coming home so late and reading so many greetful comments (oops... i feel my English is way behind what I'd like to express now)!
I guess you've made your (our?) point of view wonderfully expressive: you're never too old to... (do you remember the Dead Poet Society movie real meaning?).
And I'd love to come here by myself and explore your surroundings, feel the wind blowing on my skin, (try to) tame the overcast light... and what else?
Once, more, thanks a million (since I've lost track of zeros, I must still be in debt from what I really owe you, Viviane!)...
So, what's next, from now on? ;-)
PS I didn't look at the B&W version and don't intend to do. As far as I'd like to feel photography, this image doesn't need any electronic tinkering; let it breathe the way it is...

L'idée est originale et la photo réussie dans sa simplicité et son abstraction. Ces formes sont harmonieuses et la couleur importe peu car finalement c'est le jeu des transparences qui fait le charme de cette composition ;-))
