My own new site February 2013

I took has been in Aardenburg in the Netherlands with a lot creeks and wonderful nature ice these picture of different people with skates.
Two weeks ago got we a winter period with very low temperatures, -15° Celsius, this very low for our coast surrounding.
A lot people are happy for to skate on nature ice.
I was self a skater but now I am the old, to dangerous for breaking arms or legs.
For take a picture to make can certainly without skating.
You can see the result, I hope that you enjoy.

I want everyone say thanks for to bringing, a visit to my pictures and also to my own gallery.Skating is possible because the iron under the shoe with little friction over the ice can slide. A skater can skate to steer by the tilt, so that the edge of the iron in the ice 'dig'. This will change the friction and it is possible to change direction.

History from Aardenburg and different creeks, the photograph shows the "Stierskreek"
Aardenburg was already inhabited in the middle time, but was a really large settlement in Roman times, when after a castellum 174 was built for coastal surveillance of the borders of the Roman Empire. Aardenburg was then still a small river, which connects with the sea gave up. That Aardenburg at that time 'Rodanum' would have called, is an attractive but unproven hypothesis.
The fort was abandoned around 225, the evidence for this is that when a civil temple was founded within the military walls. Between 260 and 274 at the time of the Gallic Empire was Aardenburg back into use as a fortress. It was cleared by the natural environment changed. Les Françaises valsent, le corps tout droit, tandis que les Hollandaises et les autres femmes des pays du patinage valsent avec ce penchement, cette courbe en dehors d'un corps courant sur la glace.
Très bonne présentation d'une piste de patinage. Le soleil était au rendez-vous pour ce sport élégant.

Hello John,

This is a beautiful wintry scene of people enjoying skating on "natural" ice. But, as you say, it is too dangerous for older people like us! Even taking this photograph must have been a little risky - you must have been standing on the ice to take this one!

The lines of the piles of snow on either side lead the eye beautifully toward the two skaters and we can clearly see other brightly clothed people in the background. The light on the snow and the distant trees is beautiful, the whole picture is perfectly composed and the details and sharpness are excellent.

a brave shot this, not sure if you were standing on the ice too, I would imagine from your note that you were on the bank. It is an endearing image and one that shows the joy of cold winter days. Love the composition that leads us onto the frozen creek and the wonderfully warm tonal shades of the backdrop of trees. A terrific contrast and superbly executed shot.

Hello John,

This type of scene, for me, is one that springs to mind when I consider Netherlands. The snowy setting and the frozen canals must be a great incentive for Dutch people to get out and have fun!
You have chosen an excellent viewpoint where the frozen canal occupies the whole of the f/g and leads viewers so naturally towards the focal skaters.
The horizontal line of the hedgerow adds colour and makes a fine separation line for your composition.

I wish I've learn how to ice skate but we don't have that much snow in Las Vegas. There are skating rink in the city but it's not the same. Nice capture of those people skating. Good lighting and dof with nice details. Well done, tfs.

This looks like a very pleasant way to spend some time on a winter day. It's a good way to keep warm anyway. Not far from the skaters the ice looks very dangerous. The cleared "road" gives the photo good depth, assisted by the people in the mid-field and those further back. The light is lovely and the colours pleasantly mild. I can feel the clean, crisp air through the light.

Dat is pas genieten : voor de één is het het schaatsen, voor de ander het maken van mooie foto's en voor mij in dit geval het zien van een heerlijk winterplaatje van de ijspret, erg sfeervol en dat gezelligheid uitstraalt ondanks het koude weer. Frisse winterlucht doet een mens goed, en het heeft je weer een prachtige foto opgeleverd. Die geveegde baan heb je uitstekend in beeld gebracht, waardoor de foto een mooie diepte krijgt. Mooi die schaatsers in de verte en hun sporen op de voorgrond. Een heel goede compositie vol met ijsplezier en met fraaie kleuren. (Van mij mag de lente komen, ik hou niet zo van de kou.)

This is an excellent winterscape photo. The colors and light are the most compelling and captivating aspects. I love the blue sky as well as the plain with white snow & Ice, an excellent contrast. What a lovely atmosphere is in this picture! The light here really is gorgeous and somehow warm - in spite of all the ice. Yes, this must be a very special and pleasant kind of "hiking" and your photo transmits this wonderfully.
However, can I see some open water left hand? Hopefully the ice is thick enough for the skaters. Thank you for the informative note!

Dear John,

Living in Flanders, you must have been a first class skater. (The only time I tried to skate, I fell flat on my face.) As usual you present a superb slice of everyday life shot from the winter in Belgium. The light is excellent, and the depth-of-field exquisite. The skaters add that touch of humanity as well as scale. This scene could have been painted 500 years ago a great Flemish Master. This is a painting by a great Modern Flemish Master. Looks similar to Erzurum in the mountains of eastern Turkey. It's getting a little warmer of late though. The snowy or rather icy path adds good lead in lines & perspective. Wonderful warm cold color contrasts between the red attire, yellow grass and blue sky. Tfs!

you shot this scene in perfect daylight, very bright and luminous photo.

This is indeed a very pleasant view ans a well composed picture with splendid colours! Is there still ice left here or has all of it molten away? I can see open water to the left, so I don't think I would risk a tour here, I hope noone crashed through here.
