I found these picture back to my archive, I think that these picture excellent suitable with my previous pictures of tulips.

These picture has been taken in Netherlands Aardenburg Zeeland.
Netherlands is famous for its cultivated tulips and is one of the most dominant exporters of tulips and tulip bulbs.
Tulips are indigenous to mountainous areas with temperate climates and need a period of cool dormancy, known as vernalization. They thrive in climates with long, cool springs and dry summers. Although perennials, tulip bulbs are often imported to warm-winter areas of the world from cold-winter areas, and are planted in the fall to be treated as annuals.
Tulip bulbs are typically planted around late summer and fall, in well-drained soils, normally from 4 inches (10 cm) to 8 inches (20 cm) deep, depending on the type planted. In parts of the world that do not have long cool springs and dry summers, the bulbs are often planted up to 12 inches (30 cm) deep. This provides some insulation from the heat of summer, and tends to encourage the plants to regenerate one large, floriferous bulb each year, instead of many smaller, non-blooming ones. This can extend the life of a tulip plant in warmer-winter areas by a few years, but it does not stave off degradation in bulb size and the eventual death of the plant due to the lack of vernalization.

Hello John - Firstly, thanks for the link to your site. I have had a quick look and shall visit in depth when I have time. At first glance I see you have some wonderful landscapes!
I like the flat horizon on this shot, somehow it shouts Holland and together with the bands of colour provided by the tulips, the cows under the distinctively-shaped trees, the few farm buildings and the small band of workers it encapsulates my 'idea' of what rural Holland is like. Good Morning John,

I have just returned from Lincolnshire and can appreciate how similar the counties of Lincolnshire and Norfolk are to the the flat lands of the Netherlands. You portray the character very well, with the big skies, the vast fields and the tall lines of trees, creating excellent windbreaks. A delightful scene, beautifully composed and with many of the characteristics of a Dutch painting.

I like these oblique lines of green and red. The image is well divided and the elements well placed. I like the little house with the red roof. The sky with it's line of darker clouds adds to the composition.

Hello John,
The different colours of a tulip field is a nice theme to return to. It gives a lot of opportunities. Without the people it could have been an empty and dull view in spite of the bright red area. The human presence means a lot to the composition. The dark clouds, seemingly hanging just above the tall trees, give an extra dimension to the sun-lit ground. As always you show us a very well composed, technically perfect photo.

What an interesting note about the propagation of tulips and what a fine picture to illustrate it!

Your composition is excellent and the colours are beautifully vibrant. I just love that strong bold line of red traversing the frame with the houses behind and the little group of workers amidst it. The distant trees provide a lovely break between land and a gorgeous sky and the whole picture is exquistely sharp and clear with perfect light and exposure.

P.S. I notice that you have used a tripod for this picture despite using a shutter speed of 1/400 second - do you tend to use a tripod always?

Besides the magnificent red Tulips, the picture space is well divided into third's.

this is a perfect type of photo where you could show it to a group of photography students during a lesson on 'layers'.
its a fine layering shot indeed.
not only are the pinks attractive, but also the layering of the clouds and greens and tall tree tops.

I used to live in Portland, Oregon, and there are a lot of flower farms in the area from tulips in the spring to dahlia in the fall.

First I wish to thank you for all your comments. I did't realized that the last photo was my 200th.
I love this hoto with marvelous color palette.
It is a well-chosen framing and the overal composition works very well graphically, and gives a nice perspective to the colorful tulip fields. The people add some nice life to the scene. The colorful fields in FG and the small house and trees in BG are in perfect focus and the overall composition is well enhanced with the heavy clouds in the sky. Well done.Have a nice Sunday.

Good afternoon John!
Lovely dramatic dark clouds on the sky hanging over beautiful field of the tulips. Great natural colours of spring, nice background with grazing cows and farm buidings. The people on the field add a lot of life to this peaceful, beautiful scenery.

The colours of the tulip fields especially the pink formaing distinct bands creates a good visual impact. Evidence of life on the people & the cows under the trees. The large slightly grey clouds provide a good contrast to the colourful scene on the ground. Well done!

Hello John,

Your gallery is beautiful and this composition is very deserving of it's 180 points( and counting). The parfait of pistachio-esque colors are an enticing entree and the grey ceiling provides a perfect contrast to these featured hues. The vertical line of trees acts as the perfect bridge and break to the landscape and the worker's are aptly placed in this fine image. Well taken, well engineered!
