Another shot taken during my stay in Amsterdam this week. This yellow bike was extremely Ewę catching element of the scene in my opinion. Hope you like it as well:)

Ciao e buona domenica

I have to agree about the subject, bikes do make interesting focal images, perhaps because of their shape but more likely due to their human connection ... wondering who owned them and for what purpose they were abandoned.
The bike creates a good sense of depth and a pleasing link to the canal and canal-side buildings. The vignetting helps bring it all together.
Have a lovely Sunday,
holmertz (47178) 2013-06-16 2:53
The bicycle is indeed very eye-catching and I think your careful PP has increased this. I like the strong, slightly dark colours and the strong contrasts. The combination of the bicycle and the typical Amsterdam background is very attractive.
howladersourav (341) 2013-06-16 3:30
I like your point of view. The background sky looks very nice with dark foreground. Very good composition with good use of light as well.
Thank you very much for sharing.
Let us share our world to each other.

Hello Gosia ,
A classical from Amsterdam . Very well composed . Your PP is excellent , considering the poor light conditions and the bad weather conditions .
ourania (39016) 2013-06-16 4:24
this is a classic composition with a very personal and special character thanks to the way you managed the light and colours. It is very atmospheric, moody and romantic and shows us a wonderful scenery in Amsterdam. I like very much the combination of a simple composition, a strong perspective and a rich background in the vertical frame. The rendering of details is excellent, the yellow bike stands out superbly. The vignetting works very effectively for the atmosphere and as a frame. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely day,

Amsterdam and bikes are one whole, but these yellow bike is real the eye catcher on these picture.
Nice subject but also high quality picture.
A lovely panoramic view in background.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice day,

You did a lot of good photography work during Your short time off!
mjw364 (2) 2013-06-16 6:35
Yes the element of the scene as you say that contrasts so well with the rest of the image, is the yellow bike.
Very well composed with good FG and depth created by the buildings. I like your use of vignette to creat mood too.

l'Olanda č tutta in questa foto, belle architetture, canale e bicicletta.

Hello Gosia, you have made very good use of the lovely yellow bike to add extra interest and a good sense of depth to an imaginatively composed city scene. The vignetting works very well for me.
Kind regards Les.

Hi Gosia. Housing, water, a bike. The photograph needs no title and no text - you know it's Amsterdam. Overall a nice photo of recognition.

The yellow bike is quite eye-catching and it is also typical for the Amsterdam scene. A fine capture of the old buildings along the canals here.
cornejo (37729) 2013-06-16 10:43
Witaj Gosia, excellent photography of this beautiful and interesting composition with a typical image of this beautiful city. Very well composed and captured in this beautiful and interesting picture, with good sharpness, depth, light and color. Excellent and interesting job perfectly done, congratulations my friend. Thanks for sharing this beautiful work.
Good evening and happy start to the week.
Warm greetings from southern Spain.

I know you mentioned you did not have much time to explore whe in Amsterdam, but you have taken some stunning images in the time that you had, this is a brilliantly seen image. The yellow bike stands out superbly against the darker tones of the background and architecture, and creates a fine lively element, so typically Dutch too. Really nicely seen.
dkmurphys (54499) 2013-06-16 12:59
A classical Amsterdam scene in perfect colors and sharpness. Well taken, enjoy a fine evening.
npecanhuk (72092) 2013-06-16 13:56
I really enjoyed this one too!
Special regards to the management of difficult light and, of course, to the composition with that yellow bike!
TFS - congrats,
willperrett (9011) 2013-06-16 14:33
This shot pretty much defines Amsterdam! I love the colours which are muted in a way unfashionable on this site. By the way, my last posting was taken down by the nice moderators for adding a little vignette as you have done. Beware!!
bukitgolfb301 (38528) 2013-06-16 15:45
Hi dear Gosia, how are you?
Sorry for my late reaction.
Another stunning aratsic and poetic shot in the perfect framework. Clouds at edges are so nice players in this shot. The best vertical angle shot is so nice to see. Sharp and clear image as yusual as your style.
Thanks a lot and have a good new week!

It is a rainy day but the yellow bicycle changes everything, setting an unusual highlight. The impressive house row in the BG sets a fitting backdrop. Excellent light management and pleasing pastel colour tones. Good photo job
jcpix (13846) 2013-06-16 19:45
You certainly took full advantage of your limited free time, these last pictures of Amsterdam have been a treat! I found it difficult at times to take a picture with only ONE bicycle, amazing how many there are in this city! :) A classic and timeless type of image, and the PP has added a new twist to the scenery that I quite enjoy...a bit of an antiquated appeal. Nicely done. Have a great week ahead.
Best wishes from the U.S.,

yes i like it.generally speaking bicycles generate a kind of unique emotion, and i dont know why.lovely pov from you with great depth.love the whole bg elements with the camal and the houses.but its the color of the cycles that makes the piv.even the tyres have yellow sprays(wonder why?)
rychem (30395) 2013-06-16 20:39

Hi gosia ;)
I love this yellow bike, symbol of this country !
The composition is excellent, the bike is well detached from the background, and the f/13 gives a lot of depth to the image
Thanks for sharing ;)

Splendid framing from Amsterdam with a color point. I like the vignetting effect.
rigoletto (34279) 2013-06-19 12:58
bikes, canals, bridges, chocolate box houses and psychedelic colors... this is what amsterdam is all aboutç. oh, let's not forget rembrandt and van gogh :) the purple tones here, i like them more than the green in your berlin photo.
fabbs99 (17129) 2013-06-19 23:04
This is an amazing shot of the bicycle on the bridge with classic old buildings in the background. The yellow color of the bike stands out quite well.Nice colourful details and very pleasantly shown.TFS.
Keep sharing and exchanging views.
Best wishes and warm regards,

annjackman (21400) 2013-06-21 7:30
I love the post-processing that has given a picture of beautiful contrast. The yellow bike with its colourful basket is perfectly set against the iconic buildings of Amsterdam and the grey sky.
Kind Regards, Ann
Waylim (25444) 2013-06-21 22:24
This is a classic POV and postcard like image from Amsterdam. I love it, very charming, the vignette gives a feeling of older photo, with a sense of nostalgic quality. The yellow really stands out well here. Good quality photo.
SWEETFREEDOM (24124) 2013-06-21 23:17
yes the Yellow bike contrast very well with the rest of the picture, nice view over he channel too.
serp2000 (42558) 2013-06-22 10:06
Thanks for memories! Your photo takes me and brings away to 1999. I was here. Very nice city, excellent composition with outstanding background!
amaryllis (36329) 2013-06-25 2:34
macjake (63232) 2013-06-26 10:38
I've enjoyed all of your photos so far from Amsterdam, I hope we get to see many more but i know you had very little time here.
the yellow bike is a striking focal point, but I also can't help but enjoy the string of boats and cars and homes in the bg.
nice shot all around
mcmtanyel (18157) 2013-06-30 19:12
What a lovely scene the yellow bike with the green basket makes! It's a shame that whoever spray painted it did not take the wheels off during the process. At any rate, it looks lovely against the canal and the historic buildings.
Tigerlily (3301) 2013-07-06 14:43
A beautiful image,Malgorzata. Very typical Amsterdam view, but I don't see yellow bike much.. the background works perfectly...Have you ever tried to ride any of them, looks like a back peddle one.. I would be scared..:-D
eldancer1 (33953) 2013-07-28 15:32
The yellow bike is attention getter but it does not stop the eyes from going to the beautiful architectures in the background. Vertical format worked well with the composition. Well done, tfs.
Hanssie (10465) 2013-11-10 2:51
Hey, you are in my photo-district:-))
You did a fine job with the bike,
one of the typical marks from Amsterdam.....
kato (11630) 2014-04-13 18:49
You're capturing well this scene by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see s row of tasteful buildings in medieval times along the calm camal. THe whole is harmonized well by a good arrangement and beautiful color combination. And, yellow bike stopping on bridge draws out a good impact.
jadesgran (5377) 2014-05-02 12:55
You are quite right, the yellow bike is very eye catching. The architecture of the buildings is fresh and very pleasing.
elenimavrandoni (0) 2014-05-23 19:40
Gosia, those little details are that make not only a picture special but also life itself very special!!
a simple shot became a fantastic postcard-souvenir from the canal country!
your eye has caught the presence of the yellow bike and you have managed to add it to your already beautiful picture in a very marvelous way!!
