The National Monument is a 1956 World War II monument on Dam Square in Amsterdam. A national Remembrance of the Dead (Dodenherdenking) ceremony is held at the monument every year on 4 May to commemorate the casualties of World War II and subsequent armed conflicts. The central element of the monument is a concrete conical pillar 22 metres in height, covered entirely by white travertine stone. On the front of the pillar is a relief entitled De Vrede ("Peace"), consisting of four chained male figures, representing the suffering endured during the war. Source : wiki

I like your pov of this monument and good to include the people for scale. I don't know if it's intentional but I like the tilted presentation. Well done, tfs.

The memorial is very nice with high affinity, and I know because I've experienced guerrilla warfare is destructive and devastating, the most beautiful songs of peace and freedom, peace, peace, peace, and that is just ...

I might have had a little more breathing space at the top of the monument. Good sharpness and excellent inclusion of the circling birds. Superb sharpness and the crowd of people add scale and context. Splendid shadow detail in the fg. Tfs!

Thanks for the gesture, Miguel, I knew this Amsterdam monument since my first trip on 4/1980.
Always a gathering place for youngsters, especially on evenings.
A POV from the other side may provide more elements (statues) on image.
Some of the square nice old architectures seen around.

a very interesting presentation of this World War II monument in Amsterdam. I like very much the composition and framing, the inclusion of the interesting group of people in the shade at the base of the monument, and the partial but attractive view of the square and the surrounding buildings in the background. Despite the very challenging lighting situation, you've achieved superb clarity, depth and colour definition. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great month,
