Photographer’s Note

Nous arrivions dans ce charmant village recompose comme un musee de plein air, personne encore, seuls dans cet endroit magique.

Le village se nomme Zaanse Schans,pres de Zaandam.

The Zaanse Schans is a delightful old hamlet on the banks of the river Zaan with characteristic green wooden houses, charming styalised gardens, small hump-backed bridges, tradesmen's workshops, historic windmills and engaging little shops.

This enchanting hamlet gives an excellent impression of how a typical Zaanse village must have looked like in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

Apart from the cluster of windmills and houses there are also several museums, restaurants and a visitors' centre to be found as well as the possibility of taking a boat trip on the river.

The Zaanse Schans has become one of the top tourist destinations in the Netherlands.

Thats like a poetry translated into an image. I love the soft feel and the fine treatment of the textures in a single colour. The balance is well defined. nice job indeed.

Hello Francine,
Where did you find this in Amsterdam? I have been many times to Amsterdam but never saw it like this, so where were you standing? I see you created something extra in the pp but i like that, gives a perfect mood, very nice.

Quelle douce atmosphère... On dirait un village tout droit sorti d'un conte. Le cadrage est génial pour nous laisser pénétrer dans cet endroit magique.

Hi Francine,

I'm living in the Netherlands and I have never ever been there! I've never even taken a picture of a windmill :-D.
I do like the composition and the old feel, but I am wondering why you blurred it so excessively. I can see it a bit too much, especially in the tree to the right since some parts of it more blurred than others. I might be wrong as well and it could be just the type of bokeh of your lense.

bon c'est sur il ferait mieux que moi...c'était une photo pour une série noire, tout à fait adaptée.
