Photographer’s Note

Getting up early when you want to go out for a walk in a nature park has a lot of advantages.
There are hardly other people, the birds and other animals are very active and ofcourse the light is great to make photo's.
This one is taken around 6 am when there still was a fog hanging between the dunes and the gras was still wet from the morning dew. The sun was low but already warm, it would be a great day.

Hallo Gerrit,

Wanneer de mist laag over de dalen en valleien hangt, krijgt men meestal zeer mooi weer in de zomer.
Omdaar in de vroege morgen een wandedeling te maken is over heerlijk, frisse neus halen zoals dat heet.
Mooie samenstelling plesant om naar te kijken. Bedankt.

The back-lighting and low mist combine to create a wonderfully atmospheric image. The golden tones of the early light have also cast a pleasant glow on the colours of the grasses. The slight diagonal of the various layers helps to draw the eye through the scene. I would have cropped the out-of-focus foreground, but I think that is a personal thing of mine.

Hi Gerrit,
Despite its beauty, it doesn't look the most obvious place to look for great landscape compos taking advantage of the shapes and lines of the fields. However, that didn't stop you at all, because you used the fog, the light and its nuances to make a wonderful compo. It really "feels" like early morning, a time of day that I rarely see because I am much of a "night person", at least when I am not in holidays.

Hi Gerrit,
Very nice capture of the fog, the sharp detail of the plants and the gradations of light/color make the fog seem foggy and not flat white. You have to have perfect exposure to avoid the whiteout, as you have done.
