Light Out Spot On, a photo from Noord-Holland, South

Photographer's Note

Last Sunday it was a strange weather.
The clouds were very dark and the sunlight
was very bright (even in your back, it hurt
in your eyes).

I know this is certainly not my best picture,
but the pictures have something.......
I hope you share my opinion..

I had to stop by and take a second close look at this one.
you're right, thats a pretty amazing collection of mother nature's light!
love the water reflections, the peaceful mood and atmosphere, and the climate.

Hello Robert - Magical light, the kind that I find so attractive. I love the dark brooding sky against which the windmill bathes in rich sunlight. The two smaller mills add good balance as they occupy a slice of brightness. You say not your best, maybe not but a lovely shot and a pleasure to see. Warm regards Rosemary

A great suject , a wonderful light , increasing the contrast with the dak sky . And the reflections are so fine . You ve chosen a panoramic format and half for the sky , why not ? I should have liked to see the same picture with 2/3 for the splendid cloudy sky .

I agree with you the light here has something special and the result is absolutly magnificent. I like the contrats between the dramatical sky and the golden grass. The picture is also well framed with this perspective lines made by the mills.

Iconic Netherlands and captured exquisitely. I love the drama and light here - it is so special, it brings out wonderful warm tones and brushes the fg vegetation so tantalisingly. Your usual immaculate execution and artistic presentation.

With its beautiful windmills, this is a typical dutch scene. Despite it is under the effect of a highly threatening sky, this scene evokes me tranquility. The light management is absolutely masterful, perfect balance of lit and shaded areas, very well exposed. The crisp clear refelections are the other aspect I loved very much. Wanneer ik goed uw tekst lees spreekt u van niet uw beste foto, maar voor mij is het een zeer goede foto.
U creëerd zeer goede diepte en schitterend perspectief.
De dreigende wolken zorgen voor een excellent contrast.
Scherpte is goed kleuren zijn mooi wat wil u nog meer, o ja de weerspiegeling dat goed overkomt.
Mooi foto werk Robert, bedankt.
Over de 50/50 spreken we niet.

Another beautiful shot, and from what I know and see in your gallery, you are the person are in search of light, the very special light. You have found it and the reward are evidence here in this shot and many other in your gallery.

Compositionally this is not an easy one. The windmills and barn are a little too far apart. I think you did the best making it a semi panoramic to include all of them. The only other possibility is to avoid the barn and get just the windmills.

there is a great beauty in this image, because of its graphical quality and the structure of the composition.
I like the strong effect created by this threatening sky, very dramatic, and its contrast with the wonderful architecture of the windmills and the reflections on the water of the canal.

Nee Robert,dit is geen vreemd weer,dit is het allerbeste weer wat er bestaat!
Ik word er soms helemaal gestoord van,wnnat ineens ziet het er perfect uit net als dit,vervolgens spoed je jezelf naar een locatie,en dan is alles weer weg,ok dan jammer denk je dan,terug naar huis maar weer.
Thuis gekomen komt de zon weer terug (gvd,k.t)
Tja en soms heb je ook zo een gouden moment als dit te pakken.

Hi Robert, You certainly have captured the moody stormy light in this super scene, great low Pov, over the reeds and skimming the water on to those beautiful windmills. I must agree with Waylim, that if the Barn and car were cropped out then the windmills would v to the right and be more in aliment. Anyway their are two cracking photos here, Fantastic, Cheers Iain.

Extra high quality photo. The clarity and deep depth of field is perfect. A well presented crop allows eyes to remain fixed on the wind mills. Classic Dutch appeal. The lighting is fantastic, the dark clouds and the soft, warm golden hour glow work together perfectly. I think the choice of a panoramic style format works to this images advantage. Nice atmosphere created, impressive photo!

Hi Robert,

As always you have you have made use of the lighting to take a beautiful photo. The photo is well-composed, but perhaps not in the same class as some of your other photos. The photo is still top-class though.I realize that sometimes in might be impossible to find a better better POV in mashy sourroundings like this. I would not be surprised if this after all was the best composition possible. TFS and have a fine weekend!

Beautifully composed photo, with the windmills in juxtaposition along the wide canal, added depth to the whole.
i admire windmills, it gives an idea about how people knew already more than two centuries to employ wind for energy - so why not do the same in big scale nowadays? goverments should subsidise projects alike.
