Swimming at the lighthouse beach, a photo from Noord-Holland, South

Photographer's Note

Summer on the little island of Marken, just 15 km north of Amsterdam.
Forget the long and dull North Sea beach if you want to go for a swim. Go for the small sandy beaches along the IJsselmeer, once a sea and now a fresh water lake.

Hello gerrit ,
It seems to bee a wonderful sunny summerday in Holland . The composition is splendid , with the sail boat and the light house perfecly placed , the diagonal of the beach , and the grass in the FG . I like a lot the pleasantly saturated colors .

Hello Gerrit,
This looks like a perfectly idyllic and quiet place to spend a summer's day. The crowds are not too bad :-)
You found a good POV which gave you a nice foreground with some flowers and a fine view of the little beach up to the well placed lighthouse. Several boats increase the pleasant atmosphere. The colours are good but the PP seems to have been quite strong, judging from the fairly visible halos along the horizon and around the lighthouse.

I like photos like this, they show just a small snapshot of real life away from the big cities & are places not normally seen in Travel books etc. Your composition is great - the lighthouse with the old sailing barge, the narrow strip of beach & just the odd yacht or two on the horizon. Nice picture.
