Photographer’s Note
Touching ground
I took this pic of the bottom part of the biggest Calatrava-bridge in Hoofddorp, the one nearest to Nieuw Vennep, because I was fascinated by the way this lofty bridge ‘touches down’ and makes contact with the polder-soil. While PP-ing it, the rich graphic and textural content grabbed me and I ended up just concentrating on these elements. Doing this I took the processing a step further then I normally do, with this slightly surreal result.
The top part of this bridge is here.
A picture of the smallest one ishere.
PCS tech: cropped; contrast, curves & saturation adjusted (the sky and some other parts of the pic separately and also by means of the channel mixer); USM-ed; frame added and saved for the web.

Wow Bert, well seen. Very strong formation of lines. The impact of the shadows on the red bricks, mingling with the grey lines of the cement, is what I like best in this picture. Immediately after that i sthe green shoulder contrasting with the blue sky.
VERY nice diagonals, superb work again, Bert

Dag Bert,

Nice red-blue-green work Bert! Well cropped out detail with a graphic touch. The white square is a minus but I can´t imagine how to avoid it.
I guess you´re definitely on my turf now ;o)

Kudos to your photographer's eye, Bert, this really is a composition that few of us would see. Excellent graphism from this meeting between the architectural lines and shapes and the natural textures. Great saturated colors, too. And not least the play of light and shadow that enhances this one further. Good job.

Hallo Bert,

This is very well seen. The detail portrays what you mentioned in the previous, I think. It sort of sits alien on the landscape with this contrast between natural and manmade. I personally like how they work together. And you show it beautifully with the grass and the excellent detail of the bridge itself. Then the sky adds that beautiful blue. This is really a great detail of this bridge.

Just to say it's the kind of pictures which makes your imagination work. There was a lot of sharpness needed here to get that wonderful play of details, shapes, shadows and colours. And you succeeded very well Bert!
The composition is extremely appealing, having that architectural part in the concrete stairs and bridge at one side and blue and green natural environnement at the other... It works!
