De Adriaan is a windmill in the Netherlands that burnt down in 1932 and was rebuilt in 2002. The original windmill dates from 1779 and the mill has been a distinctive part of the skyline of Haarlem for centuries. The windmill is fully functional, and is capable of grinding grain. However, it is not often in use - it works for tourists, mostly on Saturdays and holidays. Inside the windmill is a small museum, and the interior can be seen.
Haarlem is a municipality and a city in the Netherlands. It is the capital of the province of North Holland, the northern half of Holland, which at one time was the most powerful of the seven provinces of the Dutch Republic. Haarlem lies in the northern part of the Randstad, one of the largest metropolitan areas in Europe.

Hello Asa ,
Ce célèbre moulin bénéficie d'un magnifique ciel "hollandais" en toile de fond . Le cadrage et la composition sont parfaits .

With this fantastic photo of the windmill you celebrate your 400th photo published here. Congratulations!
I like the aesthetical power of the clouds in the sky, and the space that they occupy in your framing, in a composition with a great graphical wealth and a good structure of its elements.
The result is effective and very attractive.

The subject is well framed. The wide angle point of view is showing the details and colors of the boat and of the architecture of the windmill and of the houses. The late afternoon light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

judicious framing of this mill in a beautiful part of heaven and with this boat that completes the picture.

What a majestic structure: very impressive for what is after all, domestic, vernacular architecture. My great-grandfather painted (and sold) many pictures made in and around Haarlem, including this windmill. Although he was English, he signed himself Louis Van Staaten, presumably to make his Dutch paintings more "authentic"! Like you have managed here, he always looked for the dramatic sky. Your photograph reminds me very strongly of his work, several examples of which we've got hanging around the house. Good work and thanks!

Quite attractive old windmill perfectly placed by the water. Together with those boats it creates definitely Dutch feeling. Background clouds look good too.

Good graphism of the darker Adriaan Windmill against the lighter bg sky. Well framed and positioned on the 1/3 axis too with impeccable sharpness overall, and nice fg reflections in the canal. The clouds add to the tonal range and the boats add focal points. Tfs!

A superb composition, I like the POV with the beautiful windmill shifted to one side allowing you to see the charming houses next to it, a fabulous sky is a great complement to the image.
Perfect management of brightness and sharpness with a palette ideal. Well done.
Have a nice weekend.

Hello dear Asa
What a lovely characteristic scene, so symbolic of the Netherlands. The colours and shapes are beautiful and you did really well with the light and the sky. I think you could increase the contrast even more here, but that's just a question of personal taste.
Thanks for sharing

Quel bel endroit. Le moulin à vent est gigantesque et prend littéralement possession de ce quai. La contre plongée utilise parfaitement les nuages comme arrière plan.

il à fier allure ce moulin et qui plus est bien situé le long du halage où il doit faire bon flâner .
