The inspiration came from "Hansie's" series of shot from Amsterdam:-) Viewing his photos i did decide to post a small serie showing my way of seen and photograph this interesting city...
In this shot i did like the controversy between the different cultures as it is expressed by the different kind of shops. Completely different things are sold in this corner of Spui...diamonts, falafel and junk food all together, representing the multi cultured "face" of Amsterdam.
The shot was taken in the dusk of a cloudy and rainy day. It was the only time of the day that the city got "photographicaly" alive as the lights went on.
Tip: When the weather is not good for general photos in a city, look for abstracts or indoor objects during the day and wait for the dusk or evening for outdoors shots! :-)

The note is very interesting. The poto...there is a slight tilt that can easily be corrected. Fom my eyes it is a bit dark too. The lights came on, yes,but they are a bit far off.

Yes, George. Timing is very important in photography, Thanks for the tip. Did you know that falafel is the most popular Israeli fast fod (well, before they invented the McDonald's).
A very good colorful shot.

Hi George, it's very good to be able to catch almost all the details even in dark areas.:))
Very good colors and sharpness. It's a good idea to show the multi cultural face of this famous city with this perpective.
Good job. Thanks for sharing...
(Do you know there is a restaurant chain in Egypt as "Felfela")
