One of the most striking buildings in the town Vught is the old town hall. Before this building was actually used as a town hall, it was known as "Leeuwenstein". In 1753 it was a property for the famous lawyer mr Johan Hendrik van Heumen. Unfortunately the building was in decline, which had to be aborted. The name "Leeuwenstein 'continued existence. In 1901 the banker Herman van Rijckevorsel the "Villa Leeuwenstein" build.

Since 1921 was the town of Vught located in "Leeuwenburg". The population of the town grew rapidly between 1921 and 1935: from 8,093 to 13,470 inhabitants. This made a wider housing need, but for new construction did not authorize them. In 1935, the municipality owns the empty villa. Architect H.W. Valk converted the property in 1936 to Town hall, in collaboration with several famous craftsmen Vught. The restoration and an important part of the establishment is donated by the Vught honorary citizen W. van Beuningen and his wife Ch.E. van Beuningen-Fentener van Vlissingen. Under the then mayor H.J.M. Loeff was the town hall on June 8, 1937 officially went online.

Until August 2006 were in the town hall, among other things adviser and committee meetings and they are married. In addition there were the municipal executive and the civil division there. From August 2006 is the only building still used for receptions, celebrations, weddings and meetings. The College and civil matters are arriving to the new Municipal moved.

In the period October 2007 - april 2008, the town hall on the exterior restored. It should happen a lot, such as the siting of a new elevator and a staircase, and the repair and painting of all the woodwork. Where necessary, is also immediately the masonry repaired and jointing. After this restoration found in the town hall again receptions, celebrations, weddings and meetings.
