Photographer’s Note

Drongelen is a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located in the municipality of Aalburg.

Drongelen was a separate municipality until 1923, when it was merged with Eethen. Before 1908, the name of the municipality was "Drongelen, Haagoort, Gansoijen en Doeveren"

I took this one last week by the ferry of the old Maas.
I hope you like the contrast shot.

this is my favourite theme: boats and water. The afternoon light enhance the beauty and intensity of the colours, especially the yellow which constitutes an excellent focal point. Goede morgen Jaap,

De boten zijn opzich niet spectaculair kwa vormgeving, maar kwa kleur knallen ze hier het scherm binnen. Geel en blauw doen het altijd goed, maar ook het weinige zonlicht wat de bolders raakt licht de foto zeer fraai op.
En ja die 17-40 is een beauty, een waardevolle en verstandige investering.

And yes, I can understand why you like that lense! I just got a 18-35 this weekend, but then only the cheapy 3.5 - 5.x version. Though, since I will only use it for landscapes the 3.5 does not matter that much - will be mainly used at f/11 and ->

Yes, yellow is what stands out the most here. And it makes a wonderful contrast with the somewhat dim light and the rest of the colours. It's very well composed, I like the curbed half diagonal that comes from the lower right corner that makes a nice symmetry with the clouds. But I bet that it wouldn't have half the punch if the boats were painted with another colour.

Hi Jaap. Yellow must be corporate colours. ;-) The two boats balance each other well in the composition and add a dynamic colour to the scene. I love the reflections, just enough ripple to add a little movement to the pic. Great photo and thanks for sharing.

De eerste foto van dit dorp en al meteen boven de 200! Proficiat, het is voor een reden. Ik geef je gelijk; het kleurcontrast springt echt in het oog. Een eenvoudig onderwerp maar heel mooi gebracht.
