Photographer’s Note
Pallaz Cafe, a gay bar, was across the street from my hotel in Eindhoven. Here a ghostly bicyclist passes by on the sidewalk.
This is the second dark night shot I have posted recently. The trouble I always have with these is that they can look very different on different monitors, or even on the same monitor if you view it from a higher or lower angle. On a brighter monitor you see too much noise. On a darker monitor you lose important details. I prepare the images using a monitor that I believe is properly in the middle, but it won't match the monitors of all TE viewers. Any advice would be appreciated.

I think it looks right on my monitor, but I'm never sure how my photos are going to look on other's monitors either. I like darker images like this one, which only have one or two light sources. The composition is good, but I'm debating whether I would prefer the biker to be in front of the lit part of the wall or not. It might be awkward with her so close to the edge of the frame. I guess you this is the correct placement of the biker in this photo.

A very spooky picture, ken, very decorative and creative but with lots of mood.I like the hard lettering of Pallaz at the top contrasting with the fugitive and ghostly bicycle in motion blur. Regards kevin

Hi Ken! It's a very interesting composition, I think I would like the biker a little closer to the right edge. But I think that would probably cut it too close to the "z" in the neon light. You have exposed this well for a tricky situation and I think the amount of blur on the biker is tasteful.
Well done!

Hello Ken,
A well composed shot, that on my monitor looks good -- but a slight bit orangy. I agree with you about the variation in the appearance of the same image on different screens. The ghostly cyclist makes the image far more interesting than if her were absent.
Warm regards, and best wishes for a rejuvenating weekend,
Bulent
