Photographer’s Note
This is the swing bridge in Willemstad harbor. 'The swinging old lady' – this is the nickname of the world’s only floating wooden swing bridge. The official name for this historic bridge that was built in 1888 is the Koningin Emmabrug (Queen Emma Bridge) but it is also known by locals as the pontoon bridge. This beautiful old bridge, 551 feet in length and no longer used for car traffic, bobs in the waves of St. Anna Bay and connects Punda with Otrobanda. This shot has the bridge in action, swinging across the harbor after boat traffic had passed.

Hi Asa,
I like the way you framed the bridge and this lovely display of pastel colors, annex the subtle use of diagonals, with those lamp posts "climbing up" towards the middle of the picture. Very effective.
Never been to Willemstad, but it sure looks like a very nice place, thanks for sharing!
Have a great weekend, I'll be seeing you around.
Ciao,
Fulvio.

Hello Asa, very good placement in the framework or the pontoon takes almost all the framework with a sight magnificiently detailed with this group of building to the coloured roof, or the image speaks about itself, for a beautiful impression of calm and from serenity which emerges some, it emanates from this photograph an impression of cleanliness or all with the image appears with its place and balanced, the blue sky without too many clouds bring a bottom to l' image which increases quality by it ...............Bonjour Asa,

Hi Asa,
The background of lovely complimenting yellow and blue colors that contrast wonderfully with the traditional red roofs really work well to highlight this lovely foot bridge. The pastel blue sky is anotehr fine element to this image.

It's not so much the swing bridge that has caught my attention but the lovely pastel coloured buildings in the background. However I don't think I have seen a bridge like this before; it seems it is allowed to "swing" with people on it. Good work

Hello Asa,
Your note informs the the TE package effectively. The near parabolic curves appear to be lights (!?!). "Pontoon Bridge" is a good description for the structure, bobbing water. I like the presence of the blue building in the background, serving to balance the composition.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Nice. I remember this place with the old colourful houses. But I remember also the places beside the touristic route where so many buildings are destroyed.
This is a very nice and expressive photo! I ilke it

Hello Asa,
551 feet for a swing bridge is very long, certainly for a old bridge.
But the bridge suit very well to the modern houses in background, maybe through the decorations on the bridge.
You did very well done, add the people on the bridge for the scale.
Very nice done, TFS.
Best regards,
John.

hi Asa
Interesting note about this swing bridge, with such a colorful background of buildings surrounding this place, which perhaps still make this area a popular spot for visitors to hang on. Nice shot.

Hi Asa,
I like very much that row of colourful houses in the background. The POV is not very lucky due to the strong sunlight and I do not know if a polarizer could have been useful. I tried a WS to make the sky less "pale". Have a nice WE, Dario

I never thought it was floating until i read your note, tfs. The pastel colors of the buildings at the back looks very nice, maybe a polarizing filter could boost the color of the sky. Nice shot.
