Photographer’s Note
Groningen is the capital city of the province of Groningen with a population of 185,000.
It is also the city of my friend Henk Meijer - Floydian - with whom I've spent 3 days last spring, shooting tulips, windmills and canals.

Hallo Andre!
You have a had a wonderful light that day. This point of view creates a very good depth into the scenery and this steeple really is "towering" it. A worth-showing picture!
Greetings from grey and rainy Germany!

Andre,
This is a nicely composed shot using the vertical format to show the depth of the scene adn the height of the masts and tower. The lighting was outstanding giving the photo a nice warm glow and great colors. The dark sky provides nice contrast to the bright lighting of the scene.
TFS,
Asa

Bonjour André
superbe image.

Joli travail

Hello, Andre,
what sensational light and color!! Wonderful framing, beautifully composed and the vertical format is perfect. I love the reflections - they look like molten gold. The spring green of the trees is lovely, too. Just a fabulous shot altogether. Many thanks and warm regards,
Shelly

Hello Andre,
A lovely dutch city view, enhanced by the contrast between the golden sunny colours of the scene and the dark threatening sky.

Henk told me there was nothing to photograph in his town! I was wondering if he would briefly come out of his 'retirement' to add his comments.
The light is gorgeous (evening?)and it helps the appearance of the reflections too. The brooding sky and wonderful light make a perfect combination. The vertical format was the best choice and the few leaves at the top of the image is a great addition.

Well well well....if that isn't the Noorderhaven ;-))))
Hey Giant...i thought you had all your Dutch shots lost, seems this one survied.
I know where you stood, i think i passed this place hundreds and hundreds of times without stopping or even thinking in taking one single picture. You see, when living here i see nothing, while you present a picture-perfect postcard from Groningen.
At least you put this town on the map here, i think thousands of extra tourists will come out next year and flood the city ;-)
How is life buddy, all well in SA? Wrote you a mail with Bjork inside to your GMail account, hope you got it.
Take care my friend....hugs the the both of you...!!!

Hi Andre!
Very nice and very Dutch!
Good composition with the branches at the side and on top.
But I like most the warm light at the nice scenery and the contrast with this dark, grey sky.

Bravo !

Hi Andre,
As far as I can remember, Henk never showed these corners of his home town here.
This looks very nice. Cosy old town with canals. I like that warm spring sunshine, background clouds provide good contrast.

Hello Andre,
The range of light captured in this one in addition to the beautiful colors is great. I like how the masts and the rower in the bg are competing for a top spot.
Thanks for sharing

Hi Andre
Impressive composition. I can see an oil painting here if were in the 1800s (but luckily were are not). Lots of great elements to look at, from the moody sky, the church tower, the boats, the buildings; great stuff. And no people. Nice relections too.

Philippe

very nice Andre.
I have never been in Groningen in my life. But I know it's a very nice city with a lot of photographers with our friend Henk. You made a fine cityscape of Groningen with the famous Martini tower, well composed shot, nice atmosphere, good perspective and details, have a nice day.

Hello André!
Technically speaking, everything is excellent in this one too, but I specially like the management of light, the pov and the composition! The vertical format was quite suitable for this image and I do love all the details, including the reflections and the contrast between the coloful boats and buildings, all hit by the sunlight and the dark and grey cloudy sky!
TFS - congratulations!
Best regards,
Neyvan
