de Peperbus
Back from the Queen's Day-celebrations! :-D
And here is a picture of the city of Zwolle, Overijssel again!
Zwolle was founded around 800 by Frisian merchants. The name comes from Suolle, that means 'hill'. The city is built on a hill and located between three rivers, de IJssel, de Vecht and het Zwarte Water. Just as Deventer and Kampen, Zwolle was a member of the Hanseatic League.
Nowadays Zwolle is one of the most import cities in the northern and eastern parts of the Netherlands and has about 111,000 citizens. The city is half way between the railway connection Amsterdam and Groningen.
The tower here in the middle of the picture is de Peperbus (the Pepper-box). This tower was built between 1463-1484. The tower is 75m high.
The buildings in front of the tower is het Stedelijk Museum Zwolle (Zwolle City Museum) with on the left the modern extension.
This picture could be placed in my father's little series about Old vs. New:
Two Twins
Old against new
I hope you like it!

Hi Lars,
nice to see the reflex on the faįade! Good eye catch, is only a little bit too dark.
Luxus note, as always with you!
ciao, Giorgio
p.s. but are you sure that the hinabitants are 111.000 and not 111.111 ??! it's a binary language! ;-D))

Hi Lars,
I think the reflection makes all the difference in this shot. The imaginary depth it created makes it interesting. There is good division of space and harmonious shapes. Thanks and regards.

Bonjour Lars,
Arriver ā mélanger avec harmonie l'ancien et le moderne n'est pas une tâche facile. Les architectes ont fait preuve d'un compromis tout ā fait respectable.
J'ai regardé avec intéręt les différentes photographies.
Merci pour le partage.
Bien amicalement.

Hi Lars,
This is really a great exposition of architectural styles in one picture. When we also count the reflection it must be a world-record. It needs a great eye the find this.

Dag Lars,

Mycket bra gjort Lars.
PS.

Goed werk! Groeten uit Rotterdam.

A nice and special mix of architecture and different styles - I like the reflections to give us an extra dimension - thanks Lars for sharing and for the fine note to explain.

Beautiful composition and good contrast between the old and new building. The blue colors of the sky and windows are very nice.
I think the picture is a little underexposed and I tried a WS. The clock of the tower needs reparation. It marks noon but your photo was taken at 13:25

Oh, yes, the old and the new, and even the new can't get rid of the old, can it, with the reflection of the old still dominating! Excellent shot, with good clarity and contrast, good POV.
Nice idea, Lars.
Best wishes,
Matt

Hey Lars! Hope you had a fine time at the celebrations. I had a fine time in NYC. I like the framing you chose as it lent quite a nice mix of architecture. The blue sky gave some pleasant light as well. Very nice one Lars!

Good composition and wonderful subtle tones and hues. The reflection is quite neatly seen. Remarkable crispness and clarity for such a low light shot, Lars. The clock on the tower is remarkably defined. Well done.

Olá Lars, interesting to see that the reflection seems to fit better with the old buildings on the right ;-) Thanks to the smaller faįade, we can see the Pepper-box. Some day, someone will want to destroy it and make a bigger modern faįade and the tower will not be seen from this spot anymore. Interesting contrast of Old vs New, indeed. I don't think that the architect made any effort to make a connection with the old...
Groet,
