Photographer’s Note
het Goudkantoor
Here's my third picture from the city of Groningen. It shows you het Goudkantoor (the Gold-Office) in the centre of the city. It's located behind the city hall and de Grote Markt. (the building is also visible on my Groningen-panorama).
Het Goudkantoor was built in in 1635 and was called het Collectehuis (the Collection house), cause in those days it was used as tax-collector's office. In the years 1814-1887, the building was used to assay and mark gold and silver, which explains its present name. Nowadays the building is used as restaurant.
It is built in Dutch Renaissance Style.
I like this view because of the shadows of the modern construction next to the building and wasn't the only one who saw that, there was another man who also took a picture here. :-)
Hope you like it as well.

Erg orginele foto.
Goed werk, mr. Tue!

Hi Lars,
Very nice detailed photo. Perfect sharpness and clarity. I can see only a small perspective distortion. How did you do it? Is it stitched from more photos or is it tele photo?
Thanks,
Marek

Well made presentation of this old house Lars. Could also be interesting to know what it is this construction at left, leaving some fine patterns of shadows at the Collection House.

You have chosen a nice angle for this very beautiful building and you have cleverly portrayed its beauty. The colours and details are perfect. Wonderful shot!! Regards.

Hi Lars, That is a nice place to go. One has the choice of sitting inside, outside, or under the high ceiling grass roof. I like you PoV which enables the view to see the different aspect of the restaurant seating. The blue sky makes an excellent contrast to the building. A beautifully detailed capture with sharpness and depth. Well done.

Hey Lars I'm undecided on this photo, it teaches us a lot thanks to your informative note! but I think I woudl have prefered a more frontal shot of the building. i think the shadows on the side of the building are a little distracting and think maybe you coudl have made two seperate photos of these subjects. I see I am in a minority though and others find the combination pleasing.
Informative shot well done : )

Hi Lars!
This is a colourful scene which well portrays the architecture of the building and the Dutch Renaissance style. The flags and chairs at the base really enhance and warm the image. I like the contrast of the more modern structure to the left, and its amazing how the two buildings do not appear to conflict. Well captured, Lars.

Hi Lars. You have a well chosen pov to show the height of the het Goudkantoor. You have indeed captured some neat shadows here. The sharpness seems just right. Do we know who this other man is? Nicely done Lars.

Dag Lars,
Mooi werk,
John.

Hi Lars! I also like the shadows, but also the lines, shapes, textures, colours and perspective. The building is beautiful and you captured it very good!

That's really interesting how it stands alone like that. It seems like it should be part of a line of buildings. And because it seems so narrow it also seems strange to see it like this. I like the little setup they have around the building. And your point of view does take in the shadows of the modern construction next door and shows us enough of it to get a contrast. I think it could be a little sharper just to clean up the lines and textures a bit. But it's a nicely documented building. Definitely nice and bright.

The light and the shadow-effect are really great and beautiful. This is a really good composition with a frame, that was probabbly difficult to find.

Hoi Lars,

Hej Lars,
Was it your father....?
I like the general rose colour in this pic and it's contrast with the blue sky. But of course, the game of shadows of the modern roof, next to the marvellous old building, is the high light of this photo. The old façade is gorgeous and that splanade is really nice. Very well seen and captured!
