het Goudkantoor

Here's my third picture from the city of Groningen. It shows you het Goudkantoor (the Gold-Office) in the centre of the city. It's located behind the city hall and de Grote Markt. (the building is also visible on my Groningen-panorama).

Het Goudkantoor was built in in 1635 and was called het Collectehuis (the Collection house), cause in those days it was used as tax-collector's office. In the years 1814-1887, the building was used to assay and mark gold and silver, which explains its present name. Nowadays the building is used as restaurant.
It is built in Dutch Renaissance Style.

I like this view because of the shadows of the modern construction next to the building and wasn't the only one who saw that, there was another man who also took a picture here. :-)
Hope you like it as well.
