The Colours of Almere

This colourful picture was taken in one of the youngest and fastest growing cities in The Netherlands, Almere in the province of Flevoland.

Here you can see the façade of some shops in the centre of the city. Maybe someone who knows Almere better than I do, can tell me the name of the street, however on the other side of the street, this picture was taken, by Rob.

Almere is built in the south-west of the Flevopolder. This polder is located in the middle of the country on the place of the former Zuiderzee. After a flood in 1916 it was decided that de Zuiderzee would be closed and reclaimed. This resulted in the Noordoostpolder (Northeast Polder), Oostelijk Flevoland (Eastern Flevoland) and Zuidelijk Flevoland (Southern Flevoland), which together makes up the province Flevoland. The project was completed in 1968.
The oldest part of the city of Almere is Almere Haven (Almere Harbour), that dates from 1976. Nowadays, Almere is one of the fastest growing cities in The Netherlands and will probably enter the top 5 biggest cities very soon. At this time the city has about 175,000 inhabitants.

Here you can see the railway station Almere Centrum:

I like this picture because of the colours as well as the reflections! The picture was taken on a very bright day. PP wasn't necessary, I think.
Hope you like it!
