The Colours of Almere
This colourful picture was taken in one of the youngest and fastest growing cities in The Netherlands, Almere in the province of Flevoland.
Here you can see the façade of some shops in the centre of the city. Maybe someone who knows Almere better than I do, can tell me the name of the street, however on the other side of the street, this picture was taken, by Rob.
Almere is built in the south-west of the Flevopolder. This polder is located in the middle of the country on the place of the former Zuiderzee. After a flood in 1916 it was decided that de Zuiderzee would be closed and reclaimed. This resulted in the Noordoostpolder (Northeast Polder), Oostelijk Flevoland (Eastern Flevoland) and Zuidelijk Flevoland (Southern Flevoland), which together makes up the province Flevoland. The project was completed in 1968.
The oldest part of the city of Almere is Almere Haven (Almere Harbour), that dates from 1976. Nowadays, Almere is one of the fastest growing cities in The Netherlands and will probably enter the top 5 biggest cities very soon. At this time the city has about 175,000 inhabitants.
Here you can see the railway station Almere Centrum:

I like this picture because of the colours as well as the reflections! The picture was taken on a very bright day. PP wasn't necessary, I think.
Hope you like it!

Hi Lars, A photo very colorful perspective view with nice reflections and repetition. I enjoy many elements in this well composed photo: good color contrast, good depth – we even can see clearly the reflection of the building cross the street. The blue sky and a deeper blue through the roof glass. A very well taken photo. I like it very much. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Lars. I do like all of the colors. The reflection of the overhead structure plays nicely with the side of the building. The depth and repeating shapes are very nice. I wonder when picking the panels of color if they had a plan or just made it up as they went along?? Probably the later! :) Nice shot Lars!

Hi Lars,
An interesting play of the basic elements. I particularly liked the radiating lines. Its so dynamic and you have framed it perfectly. While there is reflection there is also transparency and they provided the thrills. Impressive!!! Thanks and a nice weekend.

Bonjour Lars,

John.

Interesting point of view and perspective Lars. Personally, I think the colors are a bit subdued. In my opinion, the picture can improve from increased saturation and contrast to make the colors more vivid.
However, I like the shot, and I find it original and well framed!

Very colorful building. I was just thinking, when trying to figure out where to use up the last of my ultra color film, where I should go. And I realized we just don't have as many colorful places as some other places. This would have been an excellent place for me to finish it. I like the angle you have here capturing the long perspective. I just think it could have been cropped a little to get it right into the corner. And perhaps thish could have been skewed to correct for the upward perspective or photographed a little lower. But it's nice and crisp and the reflections, especially the glass canopy, are really well shown. it's certainly an colorful and new building in a new town and interestingly captured.

Very nice colors, reminding of some kind of Mondrian style. The transparency of the avancing roof is also very nice.
All the best,
