St. Luke's Church (Crkva Sv Luke) in the eponymous square (Trg Sv Luke) and the city fortifications above on a moonlit evening: Kotor, Montenegro.
Although not the main square, with the cathedral, this is nevertheless probably the most-photographed square in Kotor. We were there in October, when the cruise ships were not in port, and the town was mercifully Grockle-free as you can see. Kotor is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This old Mediterranean port is surrounded by fortifications built during the Venetian period. It is located on the Bay of Kotor (Boka Kotorska), one of the most indented parts of the Adriatic Sea. Together with the nearly overhanging limestone cliffs of Orjen and Lovćen, Kotor and its surrounding area form an impressive and picturesque Mediterranean landscape.

I have had the fortune to visit Kotor a couple of times and I have thoroughly enjoyed this pretty little town. This photo gives full credit to the charm of the town by including some of the fine buildings as well as the cstle on top of the hill. The moonlight contributes to the romantic atmosphere. This is a well composed and very wll exposed evening shot with well kept colours.

This is super great little square in Kotor, so much to view.
The small church is fantastic. What a place to have a meal or drink.
Great Pov, lovely colours and mood.

It may not be the most photographed (I think it's still square with the Cathedral of St.. Tryphon), but is perhaps the most beautiful square in Kotor. In any case, my favorite place in Kotor, especially taking into account the beautiful buildings on the square!
Your photo beautifully shows little church and the fortress above the town - really great!

A delightful blue hour shot and a charming old town square. Super view point and compo with the prominent buildings well placed and you are right to include the fig in the area where the eye is drawn to as well to keep the main interest in focus. Interesting description accompanying this shot, a beautifully taken image in excellent clarity, nice warm glow of the night providing such good contrast to night sky and rich in colours too. The moonlit gives the extra oomph!! to this awesome shot, TFS. Congrats

A glittering night shot is how I would like to describe this photo of yours. Love the moon and the hill top glowing with artificial light. Great detailing everywhere despite the distance. Great work! Thanks for sharing.

beautiful place. I remember checking out the photos from Kotor as I planned vacations over there last year (which never happened) but most of the time I got those views with a bay and a church at the edge of the cliff. This is a view which I don't remember and yet you say it is the most photographed... It seems that this place has a lot to offer. There is something really exotic in this area. It is culturally so close (I could probably understand some of the language -it is Slavic so similar to Polish) and yet seems so far away.
Lovely church, nice overall atmosphere. The structure on top of the cliff looks amazing. And you have captured it at the great blue hour time.

Hello Will - I decided to pop back in and catch up on TE after a while. Glad to see this shot from you; Kotor is one of the top spots on my to-see list, and you've captured it really skillfully here with a night shot that has to take in a wide range of tones. You've managed to keep the square itself from washing out, even while maintaining great light and detail on the structures at the top of the hill. Nicely done, thanks!

Of course the most noticeable element here is the wonderful Blue Hour you got, then the fantastic details of St Lukes. The moon is the icing on the cake, although I bet it was even more beautiful in reality as moons never seems to translate as spectacularly on the camera. I'm sure there's a scientific reason for that, and maybe even a way to cure it, but I've never come up with an answer :)
Thanks for sharing, it's a stunning photo
