Photographer's Note

The Stade Louis II (French pronunciation: [stad.lwi'dø]) is a stadium located in the Fontvieille district of Monaco. It serves primarily as a venue for football, being the home of AS Monaco and the Monaco national football team, as well as the location of the annual UEFA Super Cup match. It is also used for track and field, where it formerly hosted the IAAF World Athletics Final (though certain events, such as the hammer, had to be held elsewhere, due to the stadium's relatively small capacity).

The original Stade Louis II was opened in 1939 as the home of AS Monaco. The new stadium was built in the early 1980s, close to the site of the old stadium on land reclaimed from the sea, opening fully in 1985. It presently has a capacity of approximately 18,500 all seated, which is quite large relative to the population of Monaco (about 30,500); it can seat almost two-thirds of the country's population, a feat no other stadium can boast. The vast majority of the stadium's facilities are located underground, with a large car park directly under the pitch (something that has caused some degree of criticism from managers of AS Monaco's opponents in the past over the state of the pitch).

The stadium is named after Louis II, Prince of Monaco, who was the Sovereign Prince of Monaco when the original stadium was built. It features prominently in the early versions of Pro Evolution Soccer and Adidas Power Soccer 98.

Hello Barbara,
panoramic the view of this section of the city with the stadium to dominating the image.
As i see especially the foreground and middle of the image,the houses are green because of on their terraces have grown trees and bushes.Great.

Monaco is really beautiful country! Aside from the beauty of this architecture
I especially like the POV you choose to present us this scene. The view all main subject of your composition. The image has also fantastic clarity and depth very good lighting and well-saturated colors. Superb composition of city Monte Carlo from top.

Bonjour, chère Barbara,
La ville qui avance sur l'eau avec ces immeubles de grande hauteur à usage d'habitation, de bureaux et de locaux à usage industriel (moins connu à l'intérieur de la ville).
Très belle prise de vue dominant les toits et terrasses, et le stade.
Et puis, il y a la mer au loin, bien agréable.

Simply facinating ! The POV is excellent. the construct of the tall buildings, the sequence or planned and organised modern housing and the synchrony of red roofs is beautifully captured. The colour is warm and has excellent sarturation.
The stadium is not central to the photograph, but nevertheless is the most important structure / architecture if the panorama.
The contrast with the blue sea is wonderful.

wow, what a beautifully rich looking city!

and its funny how the construct almost everything in that same orange tinge of color.
I bet that stadium is as clean and pristine as possible.
