Photographer’s Note

Andrzej Stasiuk, Polish writer travelling often in eastern, forgotten corners of Europe wrote about cities and how artificial they feel in the landscape, that they are just a cancer of history, and will fade away. In Tiraspol one feels that strongly.

Housing district, Tiraspol, Transnistria. Separatist part of Moldova supported by Russian army present here in large numbers. The province still has a feel of deep communism, with Lenin statues and grim buildings along streets with names like Lenin or Marks, and despite of strongest concentration of industry general poverty.

Blokowiska w Tiraspolu, Naddniestrze. Separatystyczna republika wyodrębniona z Mołdawii, broniona przez rosyjską armię licznie tutaj obecną. W całej prowincji wciąż popularny jest komunizm, ulice imienia Marksa czy Lenina pełne są ich pomników czy wielkich ponurych gmachów z minionej epoki. Pominik Lenina stoi też przez pałacem marionetkowego prezydenta kraju.

Intelligent package here, with genuine meaning and "allegory". Who will survive after the cancer has burned itself out...the goat maybe?

tez chce pojechac do tego Naddniestrza, kiedys widzialem reportaz Bendiksena na stronie Magnum - swietne zdjecia. jak tam sie podrozuje? zadnych problemow z robieniem zdjec?

you are either a very small guy or you were scrawling on the ground to get this one! haha! I love the perspective and the POV! it is so surprising to see a goat in front of those ugly buildings from the communiste era.. great photo swiatek!

Niemozliwe, nieprawdopodobne, dziwaczne i ekscytujace.
Bardzo fotograficzne. Wspaniale umiejetnosci.

Wady: To zdjecie jest 'cute'.
Biala kozka, blekitne niebo. Odblask slonca na murze.
A i blok mieszkalny nienajgorszy, z firaneczkami w oknach. A nota okrutnie powazna.
Wiesz co...? Zrobil bym to na dramata jakiegos, czarno-bialego. A co..!

No ¶wietne zdjêcie z tego nienoramlnego kraju, my¶lê, ¿e w miarê oddajê jego klimat. Mam nadziejê, ¿e nie p³aci³e¶ grzywny za robienie fotek w Naddniestrzu... A wracaj±c do zdjêcia, super kompozycja, kadr, punkt widzenia. Chyle czo³o bo to zdjêcie to rewelka. Pozdrawiam! Andrzej

This is a great capture. The POV is interesting and the position of the goat looking upward is amazing. I had never heard of this place before. TFS
