The monument in Chisinau to Ştefan cel Mare (Stephen the Great), the Prince of Moldavia from 1457 and 1504. A member of the House of Musat, Ştefan cel Mare is noted for his long resistance against the Ottoman Empire and for establishing Moldavia as a strong, independent state.
