Chisinau Cathedral Temple Photo

Photographer’s Note

The Main Cathedral of the Chisinau was built in 1830-1836 by architect A.Melnikov after initiative of Gavriil Banulesku-Bodoni.

The building was badly damaged during bombings in the WWII. the restoration started during the WWII; there was an exhibition center in time of USSR due to contr-religious policy of the state.

The reconstruction finished in 1995. Now it's the main ritual building in the country.

Hello Iaroslav,
This is a spectacular shot of the carved shrine, so sharp in the presentation, and the cathedral itself in the backdrop. Except for the deep blue sky, it is mostly a monoschromatic shot. I like it very much; and I am enjoying touring Moldova through your photos.
