Photographer’s Note
The adornment of the centre of our capital, its historical and architectural pearl is Cathedral Ensemble, located in Cathedral park, ajoining to the square of Great National Meeting.
The ensemble is built on the project of architect Abraham Melnikov in the style of late Russian classism and initially consisted of Cathedral and Bell Tower - these were the largest buildings of that time; they had been dominating over the city for a long time. The work at its creation began on 26 May 1830. The consecration of Cathedral and Bell Tower took place on 13 October 1836.
The ensemble suffered during World War II from the bombing in June 1941. By 1956 it was completely restored and given the title of the monument of architecture.
Unfortunately, there are dramatic chapters in the history of this ensemble. During the longest winter night of 22-23 December 1962, Bell Tower, the central part of Cathedral Ensemble, was demolished by komunists. Cathedral was transformed into an exhibition hall. The fountain was later built insted of Bell Tower. Cathedral had such appearance for almost two decades.
On 3 November 1995 President of Moldova Mircha Snegur signed a degree about the reconstruction of Cathedral Ensemble. Cathedral reconstruction soon was finished.
The photographs testifies that the Cathedral doom underwent some changes comparing with the architect's idea. On 25 August 1996 it was consacrated and the Cathedral cross mounted on it in presence of the huge crowd of people. The building of Bell Tower of Cathedral is successfully being accomplished.

Good clear nicely worked architectural shot. NOt sure about teh elaborate frame, where, I usually prefer simplicity, if anything, but that's just personal taste.

I didn't know the story about the tower, nor about the museum period. It was in such bad condition in the 90s, I'd assumed it had never been restored. When I was there, there was a white bath-tub which lay amongst the rubble outside the cathedral for months - we used to amuse ourselves wondering its origin...
Your sharpening seems a little harsh here - see the bright edges around the domes and stones? I see you're having a warm winter too!

Hi Dan,
Excelent composition with the vase on he foreground. The deep blue sky creates a nice background for this beautiful Cathedral, the light os very nice as so as colors and contrasts.
Cheers,

Hi Dan,
you've caught the light perfectly in this fine image to give a beautifully clear and detailed shot. Fantastic contrast with the blue and the white side by side. I wouldn't call the frame 'elaborate,' I think drop shadow frames are very simple and will suit most image types, but then as Richard said, it's all down to personal taste. A fine photograph and well spotted.

Привет,
очень удачный выбор POV и сильные цвета
Оформление также уместно, получается как на открытке :)

Hi Dan,
Nice cathedral that stands well out thanks to its white structures, I appreciate the inclusion of the foreground element to provide depth, but I find it a bit too close to the border.
Have a nice day,

Hi Dan - we don't often see photos from Moldova, so this is something new to me, attractive building, the vertical format works well with it.
