Colossal Rotunda Photo

Photographer’s Note

Dimensions of the "Rotunda" of Mosta, the dome of the church of this small town of Malta appear colossal compared to the dwellings...
A church completed in 1860 whose gigantic cupola rises has 61 meters, it would be even the third of the world by its diameter, 39.6 m!
10 000 people can take seat in this church, the city cash 18 000 inhabitants!
With such dimensions, not astonishing that this dome is located by far.
PS: For those which that interests, I add in WS, a photo of the dome seen from the interior as well as a photo of the frontage of the church.

A very good composition! So many details captured in the "second level" of the image (the dwellings) but with a major point of interest (the "Rotunda"). The first and the third levels are flat and give balance to the frame. Good light and sharpness! Very well done!

Cela me rappelle partiellement la ville du Caire sans ses mosquées.
Dans la langue Maltaise on retrouve beaucoup de mots Egyptiens.
La ville semble être très serrée au niveau des habitations, cela doit être un vrai labyrinthe.
Un point de vue très original avec une franche limite de verdure aux abords de la ville.

Effectivement, elle est impressionnante cette église! Excellent choix du POV qui a permis cette composition en trois parties. J'aime beaucoup toutes ces maisons blanches serrées les unes contre les autres. Les images du WS ainsi que ta note sont très instructives.

First of all, thank you for teaching us more and more about Malta by every new shot. I appreciate it, because Malta is on the list of my possible next trip destinations.
Regarding this photo, you did a good job to show, how large the church is. Its "space contrast" against so many tiny flowers and houses is impressive. I like the pictures in WS too. Well done!

J'aime l'angle et le cadrage que vous avez retenus pour cette très belle prise de vue où le dôme de l'église semble s'élever dans les airs et dominer fièrement la ville.

Une belle papagolfade qui se repere tout de suite a la facon dont elle emerge des maisons, bien cadre avec l'ambiance champetre des fleurettes, je sais pas pourquoi mais j'aurais ete tente de mettre un coup de bulldozer digital sur la grue, moi...

un excelent choix d'avoir mis au premier plan ce coin de verdure, qui donne un peu plus de couleur a la photo et qui constitue ainsi 3 plans, les 2 photos en WS sont superbes surtout le dome vue de l'intérieur, merci du partage jean

Effectivement, on ne peut pas la rater. Même les immeubles de 3 ou 4 étages font riquiqui à côté.

Un truc qui attire beaucoup mon regard, ce sont les facades "aveugles", sans fenêtres de ta photo.

Ta composition est vraiment bien faite avec les 3 planS. Euh... n'y a-t-il pas un léger tilt ???... bon, je sors ;)

Hi Jean - posting this one as the main photo was the right choice, I realliy like the linear layers, but the WS versions do complement this one nicely, especially the interior view. I beleive several German bombs fell on this thing and just bounced off without causing much damage.

Belle vue et composition intéressante avec ce contraste de la prairie fleurie vierge avec la ville ultra dense. La rotonde évite la platitude de la photo, bien vu !

Belle image avec ses contrastes saisissants entre les differents environnements. L'avant plan avec ses herbes folles présente toutefois une convergence d'aspect avec la ville, à savoir qu'elle semble elle aussi avoir subi une croissance assez chaotique...

jean, the city looks quite crowded. the sky is nice and i like the place from where you took the photo. the sunflowers make a good foreground
