It's an interesting idea and a good attempt to add interest to this scene. I think I would prefer to see it with the island a little further away from the horizon. Colours and contrast could be enhanced a bit too which would give the photo more impact.

I really like the concept idea of this photo, especially because it combines two natural elements that definitely tie this photo to Malta: the island Filfa off the southern coast, and the local evergreen trees. Due to the extreme humidity of Malta, the needles on these trees grow up, not down like in most of the world. Given the lighting, it probably would have been difficult to make the island sharper, so a helpful way to add contrast and interest in line with the shape of the island might be to take the photo from a lower angle. Filfa has a very unique shape, and by shooting lower, it would be set against the lighter sky, not the darker sea, and it might also cut out some of the grasses on the bottom. It might also add some contrast and make the tree darker and more defined, as more of the photo background would be light sky, not dark sea. Very interesting photo idea!
