Photographer’s Note
My first photo to be published. This photo will be published in Schlumberger's InterChange magazine.
I took this when our vessel was dry docked in Malta. It overlooks the Town of Tarxien . Malta is only 245 sq km, but, will give any photographer the highest density of photo opportunities.
There are 7 islands, with three major islands of Malta (Malta, Gozo, and Comino)have a long and interesting history that dates back to 5000 BC.
-5000 BC First human settlers.
-3600 BC Megalithic temples constructed, oldest
free standing in the world.
-60 AD Shipwreck of St. Paul the Apostle
-800 BC to Present The Islands have been ruled by many people (Phoenician, Greek, Carthaginian, Byzantine, Vandals, Goths, Arab, Norman, Genoese, Swabian, French, Aragonese, Castilian, Knights of St. John, British), I may have missed some, but as you can see the Islands have a colourful history.
-1964 Independent Malta
-1676 School of Anatomy and Surgery founded at the Sacred Infirmary, the Knight's hospital in Valletta.
The history runs deep and every Maltese person that I meet takes great pride of this. It is definitely worth looking into more of the Island history as this note don't even touch the surface.

Hi Rodney,
Really good shot, because of the composition, but the colours are a bit too irreal, here you created a framed landscape picture.
Thanks for sharing, Jalab

Hi Rodney,
A picture within a picture, a great idea! It is really hard to say which one is best, the outer frame is very attractive with the patina and the inner is also glowing and with very fine blue water.

Hi Rodney,
Congratulations! I especially like the cold hard stone on the outside contrasting the warm sunlight shining on the city on the inside... Very nice...

Congratulations Rodney, a real jump forwards for a photo that is worth to be published by the nice contrasting colortones with the framing window in front to the red sun colored town.

Hey Rodders,
What a shot! great framing to this one buddy and the lighting on the town really conveys the warmth of Malta.
I saw the pic on the Sclumberger gallery webpage and was pleased to see it picked top 3 for the week. Best of luck for the competition I hope you win the DSLR.... not that you aren't doing well with your trusty Fuji but I think you'll be unstoppable with a more flexible camera.
Cheers

Very nice composition. The framing is excellent. I do agree with some others here that the blues and yellows look over-saturated, but that can be easily corrected. It may even have been your intent, but even if so, I would bring it down just a notch.

Hi Rodney,
This is a woderful shot....looking through the window to beyond. You've managed to capture some amazing textures in the wall and the window frame, and then one can't help but look at the well lit scene in the distance. Great composition, great lighting and overall a great result. Well done.
Cheers Grant

Good use of the window here Rodney to introduce the view to the town in the warm late day light. Overall good result with the F. 8.

I find this composition a very good one! Cleverly framed by the window and having an excellent depth of the view this is an attractive image! The architecture of the city looks to be beautiful.
Thank you very much for sharing and have a nice week,

Rodney, this is fantastic shot. I've seen something similar once in the National Geographic magazine (picture of Naples), but here the light is more good, the whole city seems gold-plated!
Congratulations for your first publishing, this picture worth much.
Greetings, Silvia
