I am not a fan of shopping as my wife will confirm, but I was very pleased to see the large number of independent shops scattered around Valletta and all with a character of their own. Such a change from the town centres of the United Kingdom and, to a lesser extent, France where the chain stores predominate with their corporate logos and more or less identical layouts and offerings.

hi Stephan, You are not fan of shopping, and what about your wife? She also do not like it? when travelling I am quite immune to all shops besides these I need for surviving. But here lovely place old fashioned, with long tradition. Very nice also the neighboring pink door.

It is refreshing to see independent shops!
The town centre, near to where I live, has a lot of independent shops and it is such a surprise to shoppers that they return just for the experience! We even had a company shoot an advert in the main street because of the variety!
I love the style of this shop, which reminds me of quality clothes shops from last century, which you have captured so well, with an angled approach and a sharp exposure.
Have a lovely day,

Well arranged photo with the shop window and the old red door. Excellent close-up photo with very nice colors, perfect light, very good clarity. The well-chosen tight crop eliminates all unwanted distractions.
Very well done.

funny that I immediatly associate this little clothing shops for men with 'Brittish' where they seem to be extinct. Nice photo.

I can identify with all the sentiments in this fine image. Not a really enthusiastic shopper me, but I have to agree with the fact that one shopping mall in most of Europe, looks just like the other with all the shops being identical. Global marketing is soulless and boring, so this is a refreshing change and a wonderful capture too!

you often post these front store windows and doors.
here we have another one but this time in Malta.
this is a strong contrasting subject, the two facades couldn't be any more different.
so was your wife shopping when you took this picture?
nice to see Malta this way too.

Ouvert depuis 1925.
