A little information about Valletta from Wikipedia:
Valletta is the capital of Malta, colloquially known as Il-Belt (English: The City) in Maltese. It is located in the central-eastern portion of the island of Malta; the historical city has a population of 6,675. Valletta is the second southernmost capital of the EU member states after Nicosia.
Valletta contains buildings from the 16th century onwards, built during the rule of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, also known as Knights Hospitaller. The city is essentially Baroque in character, with elements of Mannerist, Neo-Classical and Modern architecture in selected areas. World War II left major scars on the city. The City of Valletta was officially recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1980.

Nice picture with colors and light very well worked. Composition well done playing with the contrast between the stone and the store with saturated colors. Congratulations

Salut cher Stephen
What a delightful street scene. I particularly like the bright ming blue details of the shop on the left. The textures and shabby chic are very compelling and you have captured the character of the ancient architecture.
Thanks for sharing, best wishes

This really does capture the character of the city. It reminds me a lot of the photographs that Craig posted from Cuba, showing the lovely buildings, now in need of a little tlc. You just want to put glorious doors and frontages on such fine architecture!
A great angle with good use of the light.
Have a great day,

it is a fair few years since I was in Valletta and it is nice to see that the old walls of the buildings have been retained and not succumbed to 21st century commercialism. I bet this little ironmonger's shop is fascinating inside. An original and beautiful shot.
Have a good week - B.

Lovely clear picture with the old facades as subject.
The facade in middle is the most beautiful
You create a very pleasant picture.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice new week,

curious gates and portal.
I like POV and perspective.

There are some beautiful details on these old buildings, and they make the blue facade look a little strange, especially next door to this in readily detailed doorway with the bay window above. That building looks like something I would expect to see in an ancient place like Petra. The light is beautiful too, it seems to be reflecting onto this row, perhaps from a mirror, and this gives a beautiful gold and silver feel to it. Nicely seen.
Thanks as always

La ligne diagonale du trottoir donne de la perspective à la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails et les couleurs de la façade des immeubles. La bonne luminosité fait ressortir les couleurs. Bonne soirée.

Charming photograph with great light and superb colours. Though there is no one around to animate the scene, the picture has enormous visual appeal thanks to the perfect framing and the fine details of the doorways with their vintage decor. Thanks for sharing and have a great day.

Belle prise en diagonale mettant le magasin bleu en premier et qui attire le regard, a coté des autres façades plus typique de la Valette, très belle présentation

Hello Stephen, Well selected details from a beautiful Valletta street. Nice portals on the right side and the blue one looks also attractive, giving much colour to the composition. Charming picture.

Excellent sharpness as evidenced by the pinpoint clarity of the text. The blue and cyan doorways and their elaborate entrances / porticoes contrasst superbly against the warmer honey colored stone surrounding them. Good perspective too. Tfs!

Hello Stephen - The colours here have huge appeal and the detailing in this unspoilt street is attractive and finely captured. I like the fact that the shop looks so ordinary and yet the architecture is decorative and rather grand looking.
annjackman (20905) 2014-07-27 1:59
I am always photographing windows and doors in Mediterranean countries as they are so attractive even when weathered and in need of a coat of paint. Although the blue doorway catches immediate attention I do also enjoy the detail in the rest of your picture. Very well done.
Kind Regards, Ann

this is a great complimentary photo from your previous post to this one.
two fine architectural and city shots.
here we have a square peg in a round hole :)
we have 3 arched doors on the right, then there's this blue square box door on the left.
funny set up i guess, and i like the color variances in the doors too.
