Valletta's streets and piazzas contain architecture ranging from early 16th century Baroque to Modernism. The city serves as the island's principal cultural centre and its unique collection of churches, palaces and museums attract visitors from around the world.
When Benjamin Disraeli, future British Prime Minister, visited the city in 1830, he described it as "a city of palaces built by gentlemen for gentlemen," and remarked that "Valletta equals in its noble architecture, if it does not excel, any capital in Europe," and in other letters called it "comparable to Venice and Cádiz" and "full of palaces worthy of Palladio."

Your photograph certainly gives us a taste of the Valetta described in the notes. I particularly like how the you move the attractive arches from shadow into golden sunshine. The arches welcome the viewers from the f/g towards the to the warmth of an awaiting café.
Have a great day,

The splendid archway creates a great perspective onto the sunlit street. Good light management in difficult circumstances with just a slight hint of over-exposure on the right hand pavement. Beautiful rendering of the tones and textures in this wonderful old architecture. Malta is for sure on my list of places to visit next year in part thanks to your fine series of photos from there.

I posted a similar shot today so quite a coincidence! Good repetition of the arches and excellent warm cold color contrasts between the shadowed blue grey fg and the yellow sunlit bg. Nice sharpness and superb framing. Tfs!

nice the view of the narrow street with the beautiful arcade with the well lighted areas to create a great contrast with the well lighted ones.I like the good presentation as the beauty of the place.

splendid scene here, and even though i've never been to Italy, i would imagine this to be an Italian type of scenery in some elegant town or village.
the high reaching arches, the gold colors, the attention to elegance and detail really comes through.
smart looking scene with good lighting
must be nice to walk these streets and alleys

Ciao e buon fine settimana

very well spotted and composed. It really well demonstrates the elegance of Valletta's architecture. The arches are fantastic and behind there there is some more of the typical architecture of Malta. I am so jealous of your reportage,
very well done!
