Hello, I'm back from my holiday week in Malta & Sicily. An interesting world there, I was really impressed.
This is an iconic image from Valletta, the main city of Maltese Islands.
Valletta contains buildings from the 16th century onwards, built during the rule of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, also known as Knights Hospitaller. The city is essentially Baroque in character, with elements of Mannerist, Neo-Classical and Modern architecture in selected areas, though World War II left major scars on the city. The City of Valletta was officially recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1980.
The city was named after Jean Parisot de Valette, who succeeded in defending the island from an Ottoman invasion in 1565. The official name given by the Order of Saint John was Humilissima Civitas Valletta — The Most Humble City of Valletta, or Città Umilissima in Italian. The bastions, curtains and ravelins along with the beauty of its Baroque palaces, gardens and churches, led the ruling houses of Europe to give the city its nickname Superbissima — Most Proud.

a very good view of this town. Those buildings are nice in colours. Good composition using such high POV, and with the line of cars on the road. Good light and clarity. Excellent one. Tfs.

Indeed, very charming city with beautiful architecture.
I like your composition presenting colourful balconies - by the way all of them are usually closed - I mean built up around?
best regards from Tbilisi

Valetta, my preferred destination for next year's summer holidays! A beautiful perspective along these balconied façades. The image is nicely lit and has superb colours and clarity. The clear blue sky makes a fine backdrop.

welcome back from this wonderful place! I like very much your point of view and composition as well as the fact that your first picture from your trip isn't a conventional panoramic one but an intimate look into the elegance and mystery of a side street. I like very much the perspective and the density of colours and architectural features on the luminous side of the street. The curvy shadow provides nice contrast as if underlining the picturesque view. I also like how the blue of the sky matches the blue of the foreground. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,

You seem to have had a nice trip. This is a good photo from one of the very typical streets of Valletta with its characteristic covered balconies. It's not so easy to find a perfect POV for these shots but you have done very well. While we see some of the street we can mainly focus on the fascinating details of the nearest buildings. Malta is a strange mix of Italy, Britain and the MIddle East.

What wonderful coloured balconies. Your viewpoint has captured the architecture of this street very well.
Lovely clarity - TFS.
Kind Regards, ann

Tu as trouvé le bon POV pour nous présenter cette rue typique de La Valette de très belle façon. On se régale à l'avance de voir toutes les photos que tu as prises durant ce séjour!

I have to be 100% honest, i don't know ANYTHING about Malta! I know that sounds very ignorant of me, but its the truth.
in fact, after looking at your photo here, i'm going to do a little research online as to its location and history and current standing.
looking forward to seeing what you have from Sicily too, now THATS a place i know :)
amazing architecture with the balconies, they were VERY common in Lima Peru too.
looks congested but certainly charming.
nice shot to start your new series with.

I have missed your start, I see your gallery is already full of beautiful shots from Malta. Pleasure to see it again and also see what opportunities I have sometimes missed. Great composition here with the unique style of this capitol well presented. I like the colorful details of the houses. I searched for that but all I saw where in the deep shadow. Very well seen and captured here!
fanni (13944) 2013-09-22 2:43
this is an excellent perspective view! The long row of houses stretching into Infinity looks like a set of colourful toy cubes :)
I like it that you included the blue balconies into the picture: they match the blue sky so well :)
