Another view of Marsaxlokk fishing port.
This village has an ancient history being the site of a Roman temple dedicated to the goddess Juno, but no ancient remains are visible. It is rare as a Maltese seaside village in that it has no modern buildings such as hotels spoiling it and none of the traditional housing has as of yet been destroyed to make way for prefab rental apartments.
On Sundays there is a fish market where one can get the best fish available, a particular local favourite is the Lampuki.
The sight of the traditional luzzu's (fishingboats built according to a design dating back to the Phoenicians) and the tranquil surroundings make this a very pleasant place to have lunch at one of the quaiside restaurants.

A very striking Summer scene from a relatively low viewpoint. Of course, the boats make a great foreground against the roofs of the town and the church towers, and the clouds are beautiful. The picture and your note make this port seem a wonderful place to visit. A delightful shot.

hi Daniel, these Maltese names look so strange. beautiful village and nice colourful boat. Malta is so small but so many interesting lovely places as I can see on your and other's photos. Wonderful these luzzus.

This shot from Malta brings back memories of holidays spent there and Marsaxlokk is as you say a very tranquil and pleasant place for a spot of lunch. Your photo of the old traditional boats in the harbour is so colourful and clear well composed with the buildings in the background. Look forward to seeing more from this delightful island.

Marsaxlokk is really a charming little village(with delicious seafood I tried in one of the restaurants on the Promenade).
The iconic luzzu boats look magnificent in your shot.Especially from this POV,which let us admire so beautiful panorama of Marsaxlokk in the background.
Have a good day

Nice repetition of the yellow and blue colours in the fg boats. Our Swedish friends will love it even more! Good reflections in the water with excellent sharpness. Great to have the horizon line slightly away from the centre. The 2 big clouds in the blue sky add interest & enhance the tonal range. Tfs!

The owners of these boats have demonstrated imagination and creativity when decorating their boats. But I guess they follow a very long tradition. You have also included a very attractive background cityscape to this fine capture.

Once back from my vacation at the beach, I'm active again in these pages.
Fabulous this composition, with the image of the colorful boats in the foreground, and the vision of the beautiful city in the skyline.
Very nice range of colors.
Superb brightness and sharpness.
Very well done.

sorry, i've been a little absent on TE for the past couple of days.
but its fun to come back and see a photo from Malta like this!
so great to see the clouds, to see the architecture, and the awesome looking boats. you have a number of interesting subjects in all areas of the frame.

This does indeed have a very "old world" charm about it, far removed from the modern day buildings and trappings of tourism. A setting like this feels to be stepping back into time. A bright and colorful foreground row of boats sitting along the bottom of the frame is immediately noticeable, but it's the stretch of the city in the background that I find the most captivating because of it ancient nature. I like that you've utilized it to span the width of the frame, and allowed for much of the sky to be seen and emphasize the bright sunshine of the Mediterranean climate. The clouds add just the right touch of appeal to this picturesque harbor area. Have a great day ahead. Take care.
