‘Gozo - Victoria – Inside the Citadel’

Picture taken inside the small fortified town known as the Citadel of Victoria (Rabat).

The Gozitan capital is crowned by the walled Citadel, the hilltop city whose handsome silhouette is visible from almost everywhere on the island.
For many years, the island of Gozo was plagued by raiding corsairs and Saracens, who took the people into slavery. Life was so dangerous that, right up until 1673, the population was required by law, for their own safety, to spend every night within the Citadel.

Now rather charmingly run down, the Citadel offers magnificent views, a fine cathedral and a clutch of fascinating museums.

I am never been to Malta but I am currently working with a guy that lives in there and he says that it is a beautiful island and a nice place to visit. I hope I can visit it one day.
It is a very nice shot with beautiful light and colours. Well done.

Sooner or later I want to go in this magnificent place of Malta.
I live in Sicily, one our of boat from Malta, it's easy to go there.
This image have a great light, the place is very interesting, I like a lot the POV through the arch.

Dag Paul,

Een schitterende foto met prachtig licht en fraaie kleuren. Vooral in de schaduw van de boog zitten mooie donkere tinten die prachtig afsteken tegen de zonnige vlakken daarachter.

Hello Paul,

Shooting in medieval/Renaissance/Baroque sites, one can find this sort of arch to use as a frame, and you have achieved a classic with this photograph. Malta is characterized by lovely architecture, beautiful golden stone and excellent sunlight, and they all come together is this exquisite composition.

Het mooie aan deze foto is de licht inval door de poort.
Ook de scherpte en de hoek keuze zijn aangenaam om naar te kijken, nog een verliefd koppel voor de deur en uw foto was compleet, maar ja die vindt men zomaar niet voor de lens.

This is a different photo of Malta. I like it, especially the way you have taken it, from below the arch, letting us see the door and the sculpture of what seems to be a church. The light reflecting on the stone walls is very well.
