Mgarr is town and harbour at the east end of Gozo, Malta.
The town of Mgarr grew up around the shallow harbour which shares its name. Ferry services to Malta were in operation by 1241, and fishing was already established. While the area around the harbour was developed over the following centuries, there was little development of the harbour itself until 1841, when a breakwater was constructed to provide more shelter to the port. This breakwater was strengthened and extended several times up to 1906. A larger breakwater was constructed between 1929 and 1935, and two more in 1969; on the completion of the latter, the area of the port was expanded to 121,400 square metres.
The ferry terminal was rebuilt at a cost of €9.3 million in the early 21st century. Work began in 2001 and took seven years, with the terminal opening in February 2008. The harbour now has facilities for around 600 passengers and 200 cars. The design of the new harbour was changed during the construction process to reduce its visual impact on the surrounding landscape.

Today I shall be very brief, as my move is imminent.
The photo is the way I visualize. Everyone has their way of seeing and each photo shows the personal signature of the photographer.
Best rgds, Wolfgang.

love this place. It is such a beautiful little haven and leaves a real impression on you as you arrive on Gozo. It has changed a little from what I can remember on my visit but still retains its charm and beauty as this fine image clearly demonstrates.
Enjoy your weekend - B.

A marvelous view from sea up to the skyline of the waterfront town.
Dominating three edifices, two churchs and the large building on the road uphill's.
While buildings are yellow/brown, the blue and white colors of the boats in the marina created a great contrast.
The light and sharpness superbly rendered.

This is a great panoramic view of the lovely harbor. The addition of the churches on the hill top add great points of interest for the shot. The diagonals created by the roads going up the rise creates many nice lines for the shot. The lighting and colors are great as is the photo's sharpness and detail.

I love all the layers to this view, it is like taking a trip of architecture through the ages, from the modern buildings on the waterside to the ancient cathedrals on the hill, and the way you composed this makes the old churches pierce the skyline beautifully. Lovely golden scene.

the cityscape and the marina are very rich in details, and it's amazing how sharp and clear they all look in your picture. The view is pleasant and interesting, a delightful coastal place with great architectural interest. The colours are exalted by the warm sunshine, the intricate and vibrant cityscape is superbly contrasted by the homogeneous blue sky. It's enticing to imagine the routes and close views one could have within this scenery. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely Sunday,

Hi Stephen - Judging from your photograph Mgarr is a town with lots to recommend it. From the attractive little harbour to the two churches above the town you present good detail in this broad view of the place. Attractively presented I feel inclined to explore.

Ciao dear Stephen
You have been a busy boy this summer, haven't you? What a delightful little town and an equally beautiful photo. The colours are magnificent, particularly that turquoise blue colour of the water in the FG. Wonderful details in the architecture and superb sharpness throughout. A real cracker of a photo.
Cheers and a happy Sunday to you

Amazing repetition of all the boats in the harbor, with effective tight framing yet still with adequate breathing space. The red spires contrast well against the blue sky. Well composed using the rule of thirds with the skyline positioned on the 1/3 axis away from the centre. Tfs!
jemaflor (89351) 2014-07-29 23:35
Nice composition with architecture and harbour, perfect sharpness and light capture, beautiful monuments on the top of the hill, tfs.
