| Among the ruins of the fortitude those that mostly strike are the labyrinthine casemattes. Build in 1644, when fortitude was under the dominion of the Spaniards, the casemattes are a complex of damp rooms and galleries of connection dug in the Bock you aim of observation and defense of the city from the Middle Ages, with so much of steep staircases and guns. Originally they understood 23 km of defensive underground passages, that in some points reached the depth of 40 ms. |
