Photographer’s Note
What an excellent outing!
I happened to stumble upon jrj / Jack's post a few weeks ago and dropped him a line about his trip by Luxembourg. Having had the chance to meet a few other TE members already, I thought this would be a lovely opportunity to meet even more :D
So, come Saturday morning, I met not only Jack, but also John, Didier and, some time later, Knut who was gracious enough to give us a running theme for the day... in the form of apparently lost car keys (but that's a whole different story all onto itself).
The rain had settled in for the morning and we all got our rain coats and bag protection layers properly washed by the skies. Some (read - all except me) even dared to pull out their cameras while it was pouring down...
Luckily the rain subsided for the afternoon and we got to drive around and check out various parts of the town and beyond.
Of course our ultimate stop was by the Philharmonie (more about it on wikipedia or on their website).
Being utterly disappointed in my day's pictures, I decided I should still post something not to let the day pass completely un-noted on my small TE album. I feel already bad enough for not having uploaded anything from most of my previous TE encounters.
Here an unusual angle of the Philharmonie, with a slight emphasis on the moss growing on the smooth construction. I find the Philharmonie to be quite challenging in terms of photography, even though it is simply magnificent and created by simple lines. Perhaps a clear signal of my shortcomings as a potential photographer.
As for PP, I de-saturated the whole, added some contrast and lightened it up a lot. Slight sharpening right where the moss is, and that's about it. I'm not sure if I like the end result, but then again, I'm not really that fond of the picture to start with but it's the only viable one in the whole.

Hello Julia,
Quite a lot of postings allready showing the Philharmonie, still this is not a classic view ;) The picture itself works quite well graphically, without being too abstract. The reopetition of lines is there and I like the mirrored unregular reflection of the pillars.
To me the picture kind of shows the hugheness of the building and proofs that neverthelss it's size - after only a limited time - it is allready afected by time and weather. So that is also why I prefer to have the corner of skylight, it just fits in that context.
TFS, just a pitty you didn't mention you TE'ers meeting in Luxembourg!

Salut Julia,

Amicalement

Nice picture, I like those graphical lines which are crossing each other. An aesthetic work from you with a cold mood.
I like it lot

Fine result Julia of your work from an almost lay down position by this great building. Creative and well carried out.

Hi Julia - glad that you enjoyed this TE meeting in Luxembourg (I met Jack and Didier in Rotterdam last year). Good approach for this architecture photo, with a creative angle to elaborate on the graphical potential of the Philharmonics building. The semi-shallow DOF turned out quite well, too. Fun to see the "at work" workshop photos as well ;o)

Hi Julia,
great pov (lol - we talked about that); would have been great to take a smaller aperture to gain more depth. I like the sc fi touch.

Salut Julia,
Bonne journee,
Jean-Yves

I like the depth of the field and the geometrical shapes. The lack of color (ie the few shades of white and light blue) make the shoot look quite "cool." Perhaps the building in the back could be even more blurry.

You have an excellent eye Julia for these sort of creative photos which most people would simply miss. Well done!

Hello Julia!
A fantastic shot of a detail of this building!
The urbanic flair of your picture is realy interesting.
I like such a kind of minimalistic photography.
I did such kind of shots many times mostly in 1998 when I just arrived in Frankfurt. After years of mostly "classical" pictures somewhere on a holiday in Asia I just started again photographic Safaris with the friend I was walking around in 1998 (that time mostly nighttime pictures, now we started experiments with colour Infrared slide film)
Many greetings from Germany,
Daniel
