Little Alzette river has dug a deep gorge around the city of Luxembourg. This image required careful framing between a crane and a scaffolding. I finally had to clone out tiny slices of them on the left and right edges.
After tour around the city the day continued with celebrations first in Schengen with an opening of photo exhibition of Julia and two other Finnish photographers. Please have a look at the workshop picture.

Nice view of the much fortified city of Luxembourg, good reflection in the Alzette.
The light seems just averaged as I assume the sky is overcast.

Your composition is great balancing so many elements in the photo.
The reflection is very nice. You color and sharpness is fine. You captured a peaceful scene with no cars or people.

The POV is great Kari, as the beautiful atmosphere of calm old town, compliments, the image is good and have also nice reflection of the low building and beatiful two interesting layers, I have some problem only with the black frame but this a personal opinion, at end of this critique, well done.

Lovely composition with the river as an introduction. The reflections on the river are also lovely, as the colours!

Hi Kari. Great photo. This is a wonderful scene, well composed. I think the water at the bottom of the scene adds life. Thanks for sharing.

apparently not the best weather conditions, but the PoV and upwards progression are nice here, i wish you had a 10-22 to take this view. The WS is excellent in order to see Julia in full swing !
Have a nice day,

The shot is clearly worth the time you spent framing and cloning. The two layers of buildings and the gleaming reflection in the river make a unique and beautiful composition. The tree seems to tie the whole shot together. That building above looks like it's destined to fall into the river. One of my favorite shooting places, Sunset Cliffs, has similar erosion.
It looks like you had a really nice day with such a lovely guide.

Je pense me rendre à Luxembourg le WE prochain.

Hi Kari - wow, so charming and beautiful, and a fantastic light, I wish the lens was a bit wider, the top of the tower is too close to the upper edge, and I would like to see more of the reflections, but I understand this is quite alot of vertical space to cover with most lenses, and from a close distance, also the total absence of lens distortion is a big positive here.

i was a few years ago at Luxembourg and i think that you succed very well at this photo to show how the city knows a low and high part. Great compo with the reflexion giving something extra.

Excellent composition. Deep colours. The only thing I dislike is the black frame. =)

I came across this image in your rich gallery of photographs. Many years ago I remember spending a couple of days in Luxenbourg, and seeing precisely this view. I was not in possession of a good camera and was unable to record the image, but you have rekindled that memory for me. This is a magnificent shot with ideal lighting. Wsarm regards,
