Photographer’s Note
Vianden - the must stop for any castle lover passing through Luxembourg.
Like with visiting family members, we took my friend from Canada to see this lovely castle. For him it meant much more than to any of our previous visitors: he loves castles.
This one in particular stands on a hill overlooking a small, steep and narrow valley and has quite an interesting story. If you want to know more about it, I recommend the castle's official website.
This part in particular drew my attention as I visited the castle some months ago. This last visit, a few days ago, gave me the much anticipated opportunity to re-shoot the view, and I would love to know what you think about it.
What we see is the opening through to the chapel, which has been restored to one of its original states (or so they claim). What I find interesting is the contrast between the soft rose colors, little details and fine shapes, and the dark bulky concrete that has been molded to support the pillars below.
An architectural rose of sorts.
I pumped up the ISO to 640 to be able to get a stable enough picture (no tripod with me.... again!).
I haven't done anything to the picture besides convert it from RAW to JPG and make it small enough to fit to the website's requirements. The colors seem true on my screen, I hope they will on yours as well :)
I decided to post another (harsher) version of it in the workshop as it seems that the colors washed away online... I'm still trying to figure this all out...
I hope you enjoy it! :)
And Thank You in advance to all of you who decide to comment! :D

Julia nice capture of the overhead details. I like the workshop too. Having the design tilted helps add interest in the frame. I can also see that you are almost and I do say almost dead center. The three blue pillars in the upper end of the frame are not the same distance as the three in the bottom of the frame. If you had stepped forward one step so all of them were the same size...now why am I fussing over this too much? It looks great either way. Good work, well done and Welcome to Trek Earth!

Hi Julia,
An excellent upwards view! I must say I've been at this spot in Vianden castle several times but haven´t thought of lifting the camera... I like the contrast between centre (colour) and periphery (almost monochrome) here. Well done!

Hallo Julia!
An outstanding photo which shows that you have "the eye" for these things. The picture has a bit mysterious atmosphere because of the very interesting exposure. I like it very much!
Greetings from Germany - and thank you for showing! Vianden really is a great place!
