[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French]
THE MEDIEVAL CITY was during the middle Ages the capital of the powerful county of Vianden, an area as large as the present Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. It included 136 villages and stretched as far as Prum and Bitbourg.
It was a fortified city, tucked at the foot of the castle, which dominated and protected it. Five gates gave entry to the city, which was surrounded by ramparts with 24 semi-circular towers. The present bell-tower, the " Hockelstour", standing on a rock between the castle and the town, originally served as a watchtower, allowing an effective vigilance to be maintained. The Marechal de Bouffiers, who also dismantled the castles of Brandenbourg, Falkenstein and Stolzembourg, destroyed the city wall in 1679. About 1850, the last two gates of the town, the gate of the upper town and the bridge gate were considered cumbersome and were pulled down as well.

Hello Fred,
Vianden, une ville que je connais fort bien, j'en ai postées des vues de cette charmante ville aussi hollandaise que Luxembourgeoise :-).
Une jolie vue en altitude, çà, j'ai pas fait.
Elle est superbe et montre que Vianden n'est pas une grande ville mais elle est charmante, je le répète.
Jolies lumières malgré un ciel bien couvert.

Belle vue "aérienne" et colorée...Les couleurs automnales sont bien là et ce, comme dit Daniel, malgré la grisaille du ciel...
Le drapeau apporte un touche personnelle à l'image, mais je ne suis pas convaincu de son utilité...Il casse un peu l'harmonie de la vue (à mon idée).

Een prachtig zicht over Vianden, Fred. Zeer goede Herfstkleuren en bijzonder scherp. Genomen vanaf een zeer goed standpunt met fel gekleurde vlag in de voorgrond. De rivier (Our?) brengt ons naar de uiterste van de stad. Mooie foto.

Hi Fred, what a beautiful view this way from above. The colors of autumn are so nice! I hope there's left a little bit of it two weeks from now, as I will be in the Ardennes for a long weekend. What is that flag doing there? Dutch or French?

C'est une belle vallée et une photo qui donne une très bonne idée de la beauté du Luxembourg, d'ailleurs tu n'hésites pas à y loger le drapeau de ce pays :-))

Ook een van kleine steden in Luxemburg die zo mooi zijn en een prachtige geschiedenis meedragen, u moet vrij hoog gezeten hebben om dit mooi panorama beeld vast te leggen, met de slingerde river in de midden geeft een excellente samenstelling.
