Photographer’s Note
When the snow starts falling at night, the dedicated photographer sees a challenge. First of all to try out the night settings on the camera, secondly to get a picture of the streets before they come to clear them, thirdly to catch thereflection of headlights on snow, and finally to try to communicate just a tiny bit of that lovely silence and peace that falls over a city with snow.
This was one was clarified, and I worked on the contrast and filtered for noise before resizing. After that I sharpened.

To me you have transmitted the peacefullness and calm that comes wiht the snow when everything is untouched and simply blanketed.
The redness is beautiful and everything is so sharp and very neat. The winding street is great and I really like the splash of blue from the car.

Yes, well done Per, everything you wanted to capture, you have managed perfectly with this image. The amber colour is lovely and the dash of white at the bottom is just right. It's a great shot, full of warmth which, for a snow scene, is very clever indeed!! Good sharpness, DoF and positioning. Very nice.

Hi Per. All objectives referred to in the first paragraph of your note are accomplished by this photo, I think. Very nice frosty winter ambience with the snowy road gently curving amidst the residential buildings. I particularly like the effect of the white headlights coming into the scene from the bottom. Well done.

First of all, it is the difference between two types of light which is well managed here. Very good technical shot and the situation is well caught.

Thanx for this great winterpicture with a lovely atmosphere!
It reminds me to last night when I was in Maastricht, so not so far from Luxembourg. It was snowing there and cos I'm not really used to great amounts of snow, cos in my hometown there never falls more than a millimeter, you could see that on my Winter-Amsterdam-picture.
Unfortunately I didn't make any pictures of the snow last night, cos I was going out and didn't have my camera with me...
But this is a very nice picture with nice warm colours in those cold wintertimes!
Well done, thanx!
Hilsen, Lars

i love snow, Per.
the first time i saw snow in my life was in Montreal, in dec 98, the first snow of that winter fell just hours after my arrival. I was awaken at 4 am, excited with the trip, confused with time zone and when i looked to the window there it was: magical, as magical is your shot. the same yellow cast, i remember the wind blowing and that white powder rolling like sand in a beach.
in the morning the cars were covered just like here.
my heart hurts so much i miss the snow.
