Photographer’s Note

Here in the photothe Alzette River winds through the Grund neighbourhood
Centre Grund is centrally situated in the heart of Luxembourg below the centre of Luxembourg City on the banks of the Alzette River and, in addition to being a picturesque area, is a popular nightlife precinct which can be accessed by foot or via a lift which descends through the cliff.. Downtown area with all its attractions is within walking distance while main railway station is just 500 metres away. Main attractions of this area are: Museum of Natural History, St Baptiste Church and Chapel of St Quirin.

Yes last week we where in Luxembourgh city, a very nice city for a photographer. I took some shots of it and I hope you like it. iso 100 and a monopod

as i don't see the name of the photographer under the thumbnail, i thought what a picturesque view, how good is that square format... and then i saw it's from you, now an evidence but for some reasons i didn't recognize this shot as a classic carper shot although the composition is truly done in your style, well done composition

Hallo Jaap,
Nooit geweest, alleen maar hard voorbij gereden, maar je laat zien dat er best wel iets te zien valt. Een klassiek plaatje wat misschien nog wat dieper in de verf had gezet kunnen worden, maar toch allerzinds de moeite waard om bekeken te worden.
Dat stuk kraan boven het witte huis had ik ff weggekloond...

This is a wonderful shot using the reflection to create nice depth and balance. The canal leads the eye into the scene nicely. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF. The great sky provides a nice backdrop for the scene.

Een klassieke Polak, behalve dan dat rode randje. Laat het net dat zijn waar ik niet zo enthousiast over ben. De foto is mooi, vooral omdat het licht moeilijk te 'managen' moet zijn geweest. De witte zijgevel krijgt nu veel aandacht die ik liever op de gevels aan de rivierkant gezien had. Maar...durf ik wel tegen al die greenies in te roeien? Ach...

Picturesque mood, the spectacular reflection add a lot to the mood of the picture. The interesting pattern of the sky likewise spectacular, the colours beautiful. the compsoition is very nice and these reflections... I love them, I`ve always been a reflections fan and that`s why I love this one! Great image quality, just as I`m used to seing it from you. The only thing I would ahve done would be cloning that crane out.

I like the picture, because of the cityscape, the sky and the reflection.
Unfortunately, there are some unavoidable things, such as that crane over the rooftop of the white house on the right side! Nothing that damages too much the whole image!

An excellently composed and exposed picture. The spectator is literally sucked through the photo up to the church on the hill because of the strong perspective created by the converging diagonal lines. Very fine reflections in the water.

you're absolutely right. Luxembourg seems to be a real photographer paradise to explore most interesting reflection elements.
Interesting to note how your sky and the upper portion of the houses got a grey undertone. Did you use a ND grad filter or is that something that you achieved later with PP?

Na een mailtje van een vriend kom ik even langs, lang dat ik nog eens ingelog was, maar goed zo.
Ik zie dat u steeds actief bent on TE, en dat uw kwaliteit van foto's helemaal niets op verminderd, in tegendeel veel beter nog, als het nog beter kon.

It would seem that connection to TE is better than in the afternoon… How it is hard in this moment !!! In all the cases still a superb photograph, this reflection is superb and of such a smoothness, I like much. The soft colors are very appreciable. This point of view gives a good depth to the image. Hoi Jaap,

Ik vind het een mooie plaat, maar ik krijg hier het gevoel alsof je een ND Grad gebruikt hebt. Vooral als ik naar dat witte huis kijk aan de rechterkant. Natuurlijk prima om een ND Grad te gebruiken, want daar kun je mooi mee balanceren. Maar hij voelt wat erg donker aan de bovenkant als ik naar het licht kijk op dat witte huis. Verder wel een mooie compositie!
