Photographer’s Note

High, forested plateaux, schistose rocks, wooded hills fringing hidden valleys, dressed in all colours in autumn and covered with broom in spring: an impressing view for everybody who visits the Luxembourg Ardennes. Once passed the gateway of the Ardennes beyond Ettelbruck or Diekirch, numerous castles and fortifications testimony the rich past of this region. In Vianden you can visit the most beautiful medieval castle west of the Rhine. Troisvierges and Hachiville possess remarkable high altars, built by the greatest Flemish masters. The castle of Clervaux has been chosen by the famous american photographer Edward Steichen for his marvellous exhibition "The Family of Man". The Luxembourg Ardennes are also the region of Natural Parks, the Upper-Sûre lake and the Our valley. The local products are excellent, Wiltz and Diekirch are charming brewery cities. The extremely diverse landscape of the Luxembourg Ardennes, also called the “Ösling”, is a challenge to mountain bike enthusiasts like none other. There are 15 well-signposted routes with a total length of 300 kilometres, crossing dense forests, traversing deep valleys and on occasions passing imposing castles.

yes I was walking there and then see was coming to me. What a title for a photo. This is a good memory on my holy ay last year in this fantastic country with very nice people, good beer and good restaurants. I is a good memory. Thank you for looking and I hope you like the photo too.

Hallo Jaap,

Misschien iets anders of dat wij gewoon zijn, of misschien toch niet, want diepte is perfect een dreigende hemel, zoals we in zomer er af en toe wel kennen. Ook had u wel twee toeschouwers die alles registreden, en ook het heuvelig parcour geeft een mooie samenstelling.

I like it very much, it has very nice lightness and the colors are nice too. The sky gives a nice drametic effect.

Deze keer geen Hollandse luchten maar nieuwsgierige Luxemburgse koeien. Een mooi zicht over het glooiende landschap en een goede combinatie van elementen zoals het hoge gras linksvoor, de bomen op de heuvel rechts in het midden en natuurlijk niet te vergeten de twee koeien in de hoofdrol.

Hmmm...It is nice landscape,with cows.I like fence line.
Composition is OK.Clouds have strange colors.I think it is HDR photo,or you paste clouds from some other photo?
Strange white line around horizont,where stitched sky and earth.
This became if you sharp too much,but this photo is not too much sharpen.

Well done in this bucolic country scene. (You frequently take common scenes and render them into uncommon.) That heavy sky seems most appropriate in viewing this image, without the stark contrast of light and shadows.

j'aime beaucoup le ciel même si quelques pertites imperfections laissent paraitre qu'il s'agit de Post processing.
Le résultat fait penser à la technique HDR.
Une photo très bien cadrée qui a beaucoup de relief.
Les couleurs sont magnifiques.

That heavy cloud ceiling above the wide fields gives a paintery feel to your the excellent detail of the two cows. The expression on the cow's face matches your title perfectly, very cute idea. I also particularly like the detail of the foreground grass.

Her expression and the clouds .. all look kind of ominous to me .. even given those wonderful vibrant Spring greens.

A good image the one that the cows gave you posing for you.
Her curiosity to meet helped you to fill this beautiful landscape with the touch of life that makes it furthermore beautiful and interesting.
The fence of wire that separates you from the cows surely prevented a lick to your lens, he he.
The setting is elegant and has a few good proportions, the light is correct in a so cloudy day, and I like the colors, saturated well.

Hello Jaap. The sky in this picture looks very nice. The few patches of faint blue in the distant sky also create a nice effect and break the monotony of the dark clouds. The colours are excellent and well saturated. The two beasts looking at the camera seem perplexed at the sight of the photographer. Good work and thanks for sharing.

Just superb! Technically can't be better. In the muted light, the 2 beautiful cows are looking at you with interest. The dark broody sky, the undulating green slopes, the view of a small habitat in the far distance, creates a fantastic backdrop. Just superb!
