Photographer’s Note
I think I was really lucky this time and suceeded in capturing a great image of a bug at last :p so I'll give a more completed and wider note this time.
When I've noticed this bug, I've started chasing him and hunting with camera. Chased it with burst mode on and done about thirty pics of it flying, landing and getting redy to have some lunch (as here). Well of course, I will soon upload some other pictures too, but this is the sharpest and the greatest one with all the body parts of this great beetle visible. You can see his 'nose' - the antennas, used to find the couple (by the way, I think this is a female beetle (professional scientists please correct me if I'm wrong), I think so because these antennas are quite small as males have them bigger, just like deer male has bigger horns.
I like how nails turned out here. These hooks, helping him move quickly from leave to leave, branch to branch, to find more food and hide are well seen and you can imagine how helpful they are.
And of course, shiny armor could not left unnoticed. These extra light chitin elytons functions exactly like elerons in a plane
Few facts about the maybug(cockchafer):
Lives underground 3 years as a grub and a year as chrysalis then becomes an adult bug and eats young leaves of oaks, birchs, asps etc..
Has strong wings so can travel long distances.
It has smaller 'brains' than bees or ants have.
That should be enough, but if wanna know something special, I could add that describing other pics of this beatiful helicopter :]
