Good shot from Gediminas hill. In the middle you see St. Jonas church tower - the highest of its kind in Vilnius. The street going up through the left side of St. Jonas is Pilies street, o Castle street - the main street of the old town. It's the best place to check out. Vilnius university founded in 1579 is in hand's reach from it. At the middle right you see a building with green roof and columns - it is a President's palace. The square in front of it was called Kutuzov square in Soviet times. It could as well be named Napoleon's square because both Napoleon and Kutuzov resided in this palace when their armies marched through Vilnius. The yellow crane in front is constructing the most controversial Vilnius project of XXI century - rebuilding so called "Lower Castle". Unfortunately, it will destroy proportions and harmony of classic Cathedral square. You can see that Vilnius is a city of many churches. Thanks for the pic! Vilius
